Title: Brain Age 2 problem.
Post by: Louieturkey on September 19, 2007, 07:56:01 AM
I have been playing Brain Age 2 for nearly a month and have now noticed a problem with stylus calibration in the upper right corner of the screen. It's happening in all the exercises as well as in sudoku. When I put the stylus on the screen in the upper right corner, the game registers the stylus point slightly higher than where it is on the screen. If I move it to the left or down to the bottom, it is in the correct position.
Anyone else having this problem or is it just me? I only ask because I was at Target two days before the game released and tried out BA2 on the kiosk DS and it was doing the same thing. I wrote that off as being a demo version and not the final game. But now my game is doing it. I think it may have been doing it all along because I'd constantly hit one box above in sudoku and get very frustrated about it, but didn't think anything was wrong until I noticed it while making acrostics.

Have you tried calibrating your DS through the settings menu?

I just tried that and had all the points going perfectly. BA2 still does the same thing.

I noticed this same thing with a DS demo thing at my local Wal-mart.... I dismissed it as being a DS that some young punks had abused and broken as is sometimes the case with those kiosks...

Except it does it with my DS as well and other games do not behave this way.

My DS had the same problem. I asked Nintendo and they instructed me to 1) clean the edges of the screen with a toothbrush to dislodge any debris that may be stuck in there and 2) "iron" out the edges of the screen to make sure it's level. If you don't want to risk scratches or don't have a spare toothbrush handy I'd just try the second part. I'm quite certain it did the trick. Basically the screen was all bent out of shape. Pressed in on the corners, and sticking up on the sides. This was apparent upon close inspection. So I ran the stylus along the edge until it was visibly evened out.
I doubt it's a problem with your Brain Age 2 cart. It's likely your other games just aren't as stylus-heavy. It seems to be the games that involve drawing/writing on the screen (especially near the edge) that become a problem with a warped screen.
Hope this helps.

This sounds very reasonable. I will go ahead and try this and respond back with my findings.
BTW, anyone with Brain Age 2 having a similar problem or are your carts working find with your DSes?
