Title: Maa-den! *NSF56K*
Post by: bosshogx on August 15, 2007, 08:28:24 AM
Heh, heh. Just a quick stab at the Madden fans of the world.
But seriously though, am I wrong? Has anyone heard just how bad the new Madden is? It's been getting blasted a lot for being a step backwards in the series. Most of it has to do with the new "Hit Stick 2.0". A friend of mine played the other day and forced 4 fumbles and injured six opponent players, two of whom were out for the season. We've decided it should be renamed the "Cripple Stick". Thoughts?

I have never owned a copy of Madden, and I don't plan on owning a copy of Madden.

The last time Madden was worth a penny was when it was on the SNES. Since then it sucks the big one.

I gave Madden 07 on the Wii a shot. I think I would have rather been shot.

I heard that Sony was getting flack because Madden 08 for XBox runs at 60 FPS, while Madden for PS3 runs at 30 FPS.

Doesn't everything on the PS3 run at 30fps?
Hm, I wonder... Is the Madden manual more detailled than the Wii Sports manual on the rules of the game or do they just assume that you know how Americans play "foot"ball?

I have been reading the reviews and it has been receiving great reviews for the Xbox 360, as in the best Madden game created.
And the Wii Madden reviews when reviewed by a fair reviewer that is not comparing it to 360 graphics gives it average reviews.
I am not a football fan, but I just want to say this thread is slightly misleading.

Oh don't worry, his plan shall be reveled this Monday.
I've been reading a lot of reviews about the PS3 version not stacking up to the 360 version. I'm not surprised by this at all. A friend of mine works for Monolith (the guys who made FEAR and Condemned) and he's been telling me that the 360 has been a lot easier to program on. According to him, the PS3 has more power and processors, but the fact that the 360 has one dedicated processor makes the entire programming process go so much smoother. Imagine trying to program and manage traffic for multiple processors over just one. Sounds like a nightmare to me.

if EA can't make madden on PS3 run smoothly, they are just lazy. every other game I've played on PS3 runs smooth. Ninja Gaiden, Oblivion, Resistance, Darkness, and pretty much every demo available. EA = lazy. Or it could be that they made madded for 12 platforms and assigned a team of 2 to each one...

Wait the 360's CPU is a triple core processor. Are developers still writing for only one CPU core?

Even if they are, at least they are using a core unlike what they are doing for the PS3 (Or so it seems!).

Triple core means you can multithread your code and let the system figure out how to schedule them, the PS3 has one main processor with helper cores that can only run certain limited calculations. Either way I doubt the CPU is the bottleneck here. Of course they could have made Madden run smooth on the PS3, if in doubt just use the PS2 assets, that should be simple enough.

I'm catching up with my friend when I go to Seattle next Thursday and I'll let him no that NOLF 3 is being DEMANDED by the NWR forums. I'm sure the overwhelming response of this thread will get Monolith to get that next game kick started. Then again, maybe not....we'll see.
SUPER that video was tight, but completely broken, hope it's not the Omegathon final game.
"Whoa! Nice graphics!"

I don't know where it has been getting blasted, except for the PS3 version being a poorly designed, inferior port to the Xbox 360. Personally I love the game, and am glad they finally got a smooth 60fps. The game is 10xs better than the previous Madden on 360, so I fail to see how it is a step back. Then again I actually liked the QB vision and people hated that.

a brief bit of histroy.....
american football was once called gridiron footbal(occasionally still is)
international footbal was called association football( hence why its called soccer here in the u.s. , soccer is an abreiviation of association)
either way i dont really care much for either sport...i do like basketball however, but apparently its rigged now..to the Suns shegrin.
