Title: New Maximum Security Wii Wrist Straps - Officially from Nintendo
Post by: UncleBob on August 02, 2007, 01:27:48 PM

Long story short, got these from Nintendo in the mail today.  The little locks really hold tight.  Nintendo says new Wii units (and individual controllers) should be shipping with these and arriving in stores soon.  Check Nintendo's online store to see if you're eligible to order some.

Wait, are they shipping these free now too?

UncleBob does your wife know about the "relationship" you have with Nintendo to know about all this stuff...  So how is the Museum going?

I never got my original wrist straps replaced.  Never saw a reason to do so.

I already got mine replaced.    Can I get me summa deez?  I've wanted a way for the little slider to lock since...about 2 minutes I played my first game of Wii Tennis.

Oh that looks alot better than the older strap versions...but then again I don't use the strap at all.

Same, which is why, like matt oz, I never saw a need to replace them in the first place.

I replaced my first two simply because Nintendo said to (hey, it was free and why take the risk?)

I ordered my second two just because my Wii Television Remote did not come with a wrist strap and I wanted one to go with it (went ahead and grabbed a fourth just for the heck of it).  When they arrived today, I was quite surprised.

To see if you're eligible to get some of these, go here: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/strapreplace.jsp

cool

i still have the original straps in place, there's no need to change them since they're not faulty like people believe they are. These new ones do look cool though and they're free so why not? i'm placing an order for these

My original wrist straps are fine...I haven't had a problem with them.

I applied for the (4)strap replacements even though I never use them.

Now, I ordered replacement straps the last time and put one on my cell phone and have another one just lying around waiting for me to put it on something. But anyway, can I still get these new ones for free?

On your cellphone?? Huh...I might do that actually.

I still use the original straps. I never had a reason to switch. I don't swing the controller wildly or anything. I did get the new straps in the mail. They were free so why the hell wouldn't I? It went by the honor system too. Of course, I didn't and still don't have 4 controllers, but if they'll give me 4 of them at no charge, I'm there.

I just ordered 4 of them, even though I only have 3 controllers.

I got one shipped to me, just because I only have one controller, and any subsequent ones I buy will already come with them. It's about time they made straps with a lock. I got sick of that stupid little tab sliding down whenever I used it.

It says "Your request for additional strap(s) has exceeded the maximum quantity allowed per Wii serial number.".
Boo. It's probably because I ordered 4 back then...

I'm glad i didn't place an order the first time they offered replacements, these look much better.

I know i won't use then but i have alot of younger cousins so it'll be nice to secure the straps more properly for them.

If anyone here never got replacement straps and doesn't plan to, I'd be willing to pay a bit of money (for time, effort, shipping, etc) if you were to order these and send them to me.

I could use at least 4, but 5-6 would be better.

So, at what point does this whole strap thing become overkill?

I don't even use the strap, I just make anyone else that plays with my second Wiimote use the strap

Yeah I took the straps off my wiimotes.  I don't think anyone has thrown one.  I'm more worried about players clubbing my furniture or each other.

There's a Nerf shell coming for the wiimotes in October.  They look pretty sweet.

Couldn't they just PM you with their console registration number?

Well, I have the same request as Strell.
If anyone would be kind enough to PM me their Wii serial number, I'd be very grateful.
That is, if you don't plan to order these new straps of course. Thank you

Has anyone tried calling Nintendo to see if you can order these?

I don't know how much ninja stealth Nintendo's CSRs employ, but I would think they'd notice an incorrect address.  That is, unless they never registered their system.

In which case, yes.  Someone PM me that if they don't care and they qualify.  I wants me summa deez.
