Title: Fighting Games: WTF happened?

I tell you WTF happened.
First games didn't have enough to do, now I can't tell WTF is going on or how the F this MF-er is doing a 70 hit combo while his little buddy in the corner is shooting a giant F-ing laser up my ass. Meanwhile, I'm tapping all buttons simultaneously yelling out the random obscenities that pass through my mind.
And I thought KI was the extreme!
Seriously, creators need to ease up on whatever their smoking, and stop masturbating to characters they draw. How is this giant tittied bitch suppose to stop this evil f@cking super badass? Oh right.....She shoots lasers........out......out of her boobs. Isn't that fantastic!
And what is so wrong with a slow fighting game? Why can't I clock someone in the ribs, then punch them in the gut, and finally, knee them in the face? Why do I need a 40-hit combo when a painful, small combo looks so much more brutal?
Where's the slow-mo? Where's the over-exaggerated hits? I want to see some characters fly through panes of glass. Where's the use of items? Why can't I pick up this plank of wood and beat this dude with it?
And for the love of God, I want 2-D!

Play the DOA games, you can throw people out windows and they'll get hit by a car when they land on the street below but it takes less damage than a single punch.

I wonder if you realize that having even the token loli character able to beat up the devil is a necessary prerequisite for a game, especially one that's supposed to be played with your friends? If one character couldn't be defeated by another that would make the character selection decide the match and you didn't buy a game to play rock-paper-scissors on the character selection screen, did you?

I would settle for fighting game that isn't the at number 5 or beyond. Its been done before, the fifth incarnation doesn't add jack.

Mortal Kombat (Anihilation) has combos, but not 75 hits and whatnot, also you can fly through walls and get killed at any point in the fight in a lot of stages. It's also not too fast...give it a try, although technically it *is* Mortal Kombat 7.

There is, in fact, Peanut Butter Pie. My wife made me one the other day and it was damn good. It's like, Peanut Butter, Cream Cheese, Powered Sugar and Cool Whip mixed all together in a graham cracker crust. It was tasty.

SFIII 3rd is actually pretty slow, and requires strategy is you actually want to progress... and I think the higher combo you can get without exploting glitches is like 10-something...

I like Peanut Butter Pie but the problem you'll run into is that a lot of places make it too sweet.

I would like to play a new KI, imagine that on the Wii... you would have to twirl the wiimote like a baton to get off a ULTRA COMBO. It would be iNSANE. It would kinda look like someone was doing sign language for three minutes while flipping the wiimote back in forth between both hands.
and could someone make a new Clay Fighter with graphics like Little Big Planet.

Dave Perry (well, Wikipedia spells him David Perry but I'm sure I've seen publications call him Dave so the nickname doesn't seem to be reseved for that TV guy) was the big guy at Shiny Entertainment, the company that made Earthworm Jim, MDK and Sacrifice. Apparently he's the one who decided to make Earthworm Jim for the PSP.
Seems he resigned in 2006 though.

Wow...this thread could have had a valid point if the rant named games, and instead of trying to be humorous, but enough though in to be humorous and insightful.
There seriously is something wrong with many of the fighting games designed. You either have that Combo extreme system that isn't very realistic and frustrating, or you have a game that can be over with you being hit 5-8 times and your life is gone...and I am not talking combos...I am talking single hits.
Both solutions are not good.

And you expected us to pass up on delicious PIE? I agree that there should be more 2d fighting games that aren't over-the-top combo crazy or excessive uni-hit slug (as in the slow creature) fests. I personally like the over-the-top combo crazy games, but usually so many things are going on at the same time, it gets confusing (unless you get used to it). I really think all three should have a place, but right now the 1st one is dominating in popularity (or taking a huge percentage of the overall popularity of 2d fighters).
