Title: system time problem
Post by: cobra265 on June 19, 2007, 04:53:29 PM
i have a problem with my system time. it runs fine when the console is on but as soon as i turn it off the time stops where it was. same as the date. right when i turn it back on its the same exact time as when i turned it off.

Example:

Turned off 1: 21:25:00
Real time: 21:25:00

Turned on 1: 21:25:00
Real time: 21:30:00

Turned off 2: 21:25:30
Real time: 21:30:30

Turned on 2: 21:25:30
Real time: 21:35:00

what is going on. i dont think it would be the system battery because on my other system a PS2 the battery went out and it kept reseting to 12:00.

Do you have WiiConnect24 on? Try unplugging the console, then plug it in after a few minutes and check the time. If it's reset to 12:00, then it's the battery.

ok well i tryed to unplug it and plug it back in and it starts time exactly what it was when i turned it off. the time was

22:34:30

then i unpluged it for a few minutes and then i pluged it back in and looked at it and this is what the time read.

22:34:38

those 8 seconds was the time it took me to goto the calender setting.

Sounds like a faulty CMOS battery - the time doesn't necessarily have to reset if its not present, the time just doesn't get updated when the power is off.

Try removing the battery from the bottom of the system and see if the same thing happens. If it does replace it and if it doesn't try calling nintendo.
