Title: Megathreads: the wave of the future
Post by: S-U-P-E-R on June 03, 2007, 05:49:02 AM
Want to earn some crucial internet-street cred? Want to be a baron of big, important threads? Well, here's a novel idea.  If you're the hip cat that's first to post about an upcoming or hot-topic game, try keeping the first post updated with all the major news and relevant links! People will love you when the thread suffers a massive internal hemorrage of posts about which color Puyo Puyo blob should be in Smash Brothers that need to be sifted through to find the really gold ones. Really, nobody wants to read over a thousand posts about that kinda stuff.

This isn't an official rule or anything, but something I'd like to encourage. Be advised that you can link to certain thread pages further back, but many people display their posts-per-page differently. Also, feel free to directly post media from NWR in threads, as long as it isn't too wide or otherwise awful.

Want to see a great example of a megathread? Check out the Smash Bros one!

This is a great idea, Ty.  The only thread I've started about a game is the Chocobo's Dungeon Wii, so I'll try to stay on top of it, though nothing is really out there about it.

What I really think would help aid in reducing confusion within in the forums is if we create a new thread for every piece of new information released, newly released screenshots or if I recently played the game and want to tell people my impressions. I also feel it wouldn't hurt if I made a new thread if I have a silly little pointless thought about a game, but don't want to bump the major thread for fear that my useless opinion may be looked over.

I really don't think there is any need for a continually-updated centralised threads, who wants to read through 8 pages of a thread to see if someone has already posted the same information as me. No not me, not I.

Maybe I should show you my screencap of the old ezboard forum with 20 threads about the RE1 remake. We tried it that way and it was horrible.
