Title: Japanese VC Releases for June
Post by: MegaByte on May 28, 2007, 10:11:31 AM
Highlights include all the major mascots: Paper Mario, Sonic 2, and Bonk 3.

The Japanese Virtual Console lineup for June has been announced on Nintendo's website.  As usual, select RPGs command a premium price.  Paper Mario's appearance here is no surprise since its US counterpart was announced recently by Nintendo Power.  The full list of eighteen games is found below.

Famicom (NES)

Super Famicom (SNES)

Nintendo 64

Megadrive (Genesis)

PC Engine (TG-16)

Are Megadrive games usually the cost of PC Engine games?  I thought in the U.S, most Genesis and SNES games cost about the same.

For the North American release I wonder why "Shining & the Darkness" was changed to "Shining in the Darkness".  I get the feeling that somewhere along the way the name was passed verbally to someone who heard "and" instead of "in" and things spun out of control from there.

Shining in the Darkness sounds better IMO.

It looks like the deficit with Japan will continue to grow. We only get 3 games a week in North America, which means we will likely get 12 games in June while Japan gets 18 (Japan already has over 30 more games than us, we are at 96 while Japan will be at 133 as of tomorrow).

Paper Mario's release makes it more likely Super Mario RPG will be on VC... which I'm hoping will be released in Europe!

Hey, WuTangTurtle...  I just realised what your avatar is. I always thought it was a made-up Ganondorf with a strange green head... I just realised it is Link delivering the coup de gras on Ganondorf, at the end of Wind Waker.
I've never completely finished Wind Waker     I feel spoiled.

I've heard a lot of good things about Devil's Crush.  I'm going to have to download that one.  Virtual Pinball FTW.

How so? Intelligent Systems developed Paper Mario while Square did Super Mario RPG, right?

But Nintendo owns the licenses to both.

I was always thinking it was LeChuck but you're right.
