Title: Ouendan 2 Megathread

Hello, and welcome to the megathread! I will try to update this first post with convenient links to everything, and include all of the basic information about this game. Ouendan 2 is the sequel to the awesome Japanese cheer-squad music game on the DS; the American spin-off is Elite Beat Agents. With a selection of 19 awesome Japanese rock and pop songs, this game will probably shoot your testicles off in a beam of awesome rhythm-tapping action. With any luck, I'll own it in 12 hours or so and I'll make sure to tell you how awesome it is.

Game profile - includes preview, screens, yadda yadda yadda, and reviews once we get them. I predict 9/10!

Ty, you're coming back to America in a few weeks, right?  If so, can you get me a copy and send me to me?  I'm assuming you can get it to me for less than the cost of importing from Play Asia.

Also, I need a copy of Rhythm Tengoku.

I got it and played through normal difficulty and some of hard. Two songs didn't unlock yet and I'm trying to figure out why. @_@

It's just like Elite Beat Agents.  You have to earn enough total points from playing songs to unlock the three bonus songs.

I thought about picking up the first import for my wife (who *loved* EBA), but the fact that you can't skip the intros when attempting to replay a song kept me from doing that (as I knew she would *hate* it).  Has this been corrected in the second game?

Yeah, you can skip like everything that isn't gameplay now. The beginning, the end, the end credits, etc.

That'd be a dumb reason to hate on Ouendan 1 though.

Looks like I was right about the EBA additions being brought over to Ouendan 2. We know that we can skip the intros now, but what other new additions have been made?

Also, what is the rival cheer team 's purpose in the story? Do they antagonize Ouendan or do they do their own thing?

There are now 20 save slots that you can use for any song play-through rather than having one per game.  You can now also look at all of your accomplishments.  That is, the various cut scenes/art can be viewed at any time once you've seen them.

Also there's an unlockable option to remove the timer circles!

Basically, the original Ouendan help people on one side of town while the other Ouendan compete by helping people on the other side of town.  They're just a story element rather than a gameplay element and each team keeps to themselves most of the time.

3D map, seeing your grade and score on each song before you play it, a two-song finale with almost the same turn of events.

They have some sort of anime style rivalry, and you play about half the stages as them. But they put aside their differences and work together to save the day at the end!

Oh wow, my profile still works!  Success!  Man, I can't wait for this game now that I've discovered that Monkey Magic is a playable song in there.  I reckon a lot of other Aussies would become suddenly interested in the game too - I know loads of people that used to watch the show when they were younger (myself included).  The nature of Monkey was...irrepressible!

Oh yeah, other J-Pop too or something.  (MONKEY MAGIC!  IN THIS GAME!)  I look forward to this game arriving this week - it may be the first thing to wrench me away from Pokemon.
