Title: This came outta nowhere: Project Witches for the Wii
Post by: Kairon on May 10, 2007, 05:18:28 PM
You gotta love how utterly enthusiastic the european developers are, and how much one can imagine that place as some sort of Wild West with stuff getting started and promised all the time. First there was Polish developer Nibris' Sadness, which slowly everyone is labelling vaporware (I still believe in you though!), then there was the utter shock that was Call of Heroes (and its... somewhat underwhelming PC demo), which is supposed to have a Wii version aimed at this fall.

Now there's Project WITCHES, which is a "third person tactical combat game" intended for the XBox 360, PC, and Wii.

Monsters? Medieval? Epic? Mature? Looks like it! But ARE Nintendo fanbois going to be happy with a game whose press release specifically boasts "sultry girls against satanic monsters?"

Quote

Let yourself go in this dark medieval narrative and enjoy the contrast between sultry beauty and sinister horrors. Direct the beautiful but dangerous Gwen in a spectacular fight against hordes of repellent deformed creatures.

Maybe the topless men are all just part and parcel?

But anyways, imagine my shock upon discovering this (french-developed?) endeavor. I REALLY DO long for a good, dark, gratuitous, action game with satanic monsters for me to vanquish... I just hope that this title doesn't turn into vapourware... or worse yet, Escape from Bug Island.

Edit: Links not working? Could this be vaporware? a Prank? Whatever it is, click here!

"Tactical combat"?  Bleh.  "Artificial intelligence of allies"?  Even worse.

But then again, there are half-naked women.

This looks pretty terrible. But I'll probably rent it anyway because I love co-op. Remember that mediocre co-op GameCube game, the one where you fought the giant teddy bear? What was it called? I had a lot of fun playing that with friends.

Intelligence really is artificial!

Gonintendo actually posted a video showing off the character models of the game... which a little into the video appeared fully naked! Looks like Gonintendo doesn't check their source that carefully huh?

OMG!

That was NOT MEDIOCRE!!! That was HUNTERR: THE RECKOPNING~! It had AMAZING voice acting and motion capture, and 4-player co-op! It... yeah... it was sorta poorly balanced because we got to a part that we couldn't beat and had to give up. But until then it was awesome!!!! How DARE you badmouth it! The voice acting was GGRREEAATT!!!

Look on the bright side. It's being made for 360, PC, and Wii. Which means no sh!tty PS2 port to Wii.

Kairon, let me guess. You got stuck at the Monster boss at the Orphanage(?) playground?

No. I got stuck on something in the prison... I can't remember what, but we blew all our lives on it and then we were stuck there forever. I guess there must've been some trick we didn't figure out, but still.

On Hunter - me and two friends made it to the end and gave up on the final boss.

This could be cool, the hot witches and satanic monsters don't bother me at all, it's crappy gameplay that worries me.  I can't tell if this has that or not from a couple of screens.

I'm sorry that I find girls cuter when they are actually wearing more conservative clothes...

Yes, finally, someone notice this part of the info.

In the end, the gameplay is what we should be concerned with. Hopefully, this game will at least provide a decent hack and slash game for a few hours.

Could be a good game, but its to early to tell.

I welcome any game with Scantily Clad Women to the Wii.

Well said.

I think a decent hack and slash is all we can hope for.

So, they're taking on legions of demons, but they're wearing barely any armor? Ugh. I hate that style. I like my women heavily armed and armored.

Perhaps the demons carry weapons that would just slice though armor anyway?

If they're that powerful, you're screwed anyway.

Zombies, which they're fighting in every screenshot, usually just swat and bite, two attacks which armor could definitely aid against.

The "armor-devoid midriff" cliche is tired and irritating, and totally illogical.

Besides, if it's mobility someone wants, strengthened leather armor was created for exactly such a purpose.

Games that attempt to sell on sex get my eternal thumbs down, period. Though, the guy is mostly naked too so at least they're being fair.

Then why couldn't they put on a fur cloak or SOMETHING?

"Wearing full armor would be pointless, so let's DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE!  NAKED TIME!"

I don't know about you guys, but I ALWAYS fight my zombies and satanic monsters naked.

Armor is for wimps.

I'm not as annoyed as SB is about the armor issue, but he does bring up a good point.

If you are going to fight legions of dangerous enemies, you should cover yourself as well as possible.

Mortal Kombat Deception proved this. On Baraka's ending, he kills Mileena by slicing her in half through her exposed mid riff.

I was saying "Well if only she wore more armor she would've died later..."
