Geez, you'd think there'd be more attention to this, considering I spent a whole month on it. I guess fake maps just aren't going to fool anyone, and the people that are fooled probably don't feel fooled at all.

I think it has more to do withthe fact that the forums just seem a little dead lately. I guess everyone is too busy playing with their Wii's to jump online and post more often.

Well you fooled half a dozen people at your own forums, it seems. In fact, none of them have openly caught on yet.
Also, in terms of work put in, that's always the heartache of April Fools jokes when you go all the way. For my site, I replaced the look and content to match a blog as opposed to the normal structure for April 1st. It took awhile, but probably no where near as long as creating all of those maps you did.

Your Link's Awakening Advance map gave me an erection.

That's actually not the most male-organ function-related statement about my site, actually...but I'm afraid that quote is a bit too explicit to post here.
But as a compliment, which I'm pretty sure that was, thanks. The Link's Awakening map was made MANUALLY (copy and paste, copy and paste, copy and paste), before Revned (a regular on my site) created a tile-replacement tool which was incredibly instrumental in getting Super Kid Icarus done on time. There were still a lot of manual tweaks in Super Kid Icarus's case, so that's why that took a whole month to do.

Yeah, the Link's awakening in LTTP style is awesome. Also, no one fell for it because apparently most people think Kid Icarus is too hard and thus isn't a good game. You can't get a good Kid Icarus april fools joke out there if the potential victims are whiny babies.

You had me going for a second there. I was like, 'wait, was there a Japan-only remake of Kid Icarus for the SNES that I've forgotten about?'

Or maybe if you tried to fool people who weren't Nintendo nerds. But I suppose Nintendo nerds would be the only people who would care. Catch-22.

I think I like Super Kid Icarus better. Or maybe just currently since I wrapped that up recently. I'm sure I could spot errors (or things that could've been done better) in the Link's Awakening Advance map, especially since I know what I did and didn't do while I was making it.
Next year's joke is already planned, in fact it was planned for this year but a month earlier it was deemed to be too big so we postponed it and I made Super Kid Icarus alone and from scratch in a month's time. We should have plenty of time now to make something that would fool people, but as wandering said, I can only fool fans of the series and fans of the series would certainly know better. >_<
