Title: I had to laugh...
Post by: j_moose on March 30, 2007, 05:59:44 AM
...when I typed "nintendoworldreport.com" into my address bar, pressed Enter, and was greeted by a pheromone advertisement, with the text that went something like "Nintendo World Report is brought to you today by Pheromone Reviews". After a brief chuckle and realizing that today was, indeed, not April Fool's Day, I clicked "skip this ad" and arrived at the main page.
It was funny. But are these types of ads here to stay? I don't mind them personally, especially when they give me a laugh.

Actually, I was surprised to see that today too.

Just block all ad servers in your host file and deny websites any advertising revenue they hope to get.

Yeah, we just put in the interstitial ads today. I know you guys are going to be annoyed by it, but it's a necessary evil. We like being free, and we want to stay that way!

Move off the expensive cold fusion servers for massive damage!

Ugh, I never get the cool ads. All I get are Vista and PayPal flash bars.

I so far enjoy my no ADs experience after having to payoff PGC to leave me alone.

So Im not the only one to see this. Anyway, if anybody wants to see the text of the add (all except for the actual reviews), I posted it here in the funhouse because it was actually kinda funny.
Well at least you saw it before april fools day. It could still be an early april fools day joke.

I got one for some sort of video sharing site. I clicked through, and then got the one for SuperBlue DVD.
Two in a row is most lame.

I don't know if anything can be done, but when I get these ads while headed for the forums it makes all topics marked as read. Very annoying as I've come accustomed to looking for the blue folders as indicators.

Bustin, it's most likely just a silly cookie issue. It's possible that you navigate to www.nintendoworldreport.com when you come here and the ad changes that to just nintendoworldreport.com or vice versa.
That could be why the browser loses the cookie.

Funny story.
I saw this thread and thought "I haven't seen that before." Now I see it every day!

I kept on thinking there were domain problems and I was landing at a domain squatter page. At least use your logo and make it obvious that it is still the real NWR

Or how about you use some initiative and get a browser that isn't broken.
I've tried everything to see these intersital ads or even any ads on NWR, but no. Firefox + Adblock = peace and quiet. Highly recommended.
