Title: shadow link
Post by: StRaNgE on March 15, 2003, 06:47:31 PM
He still is the hardest boss to beat even in master quest, I always go through fairies like crazy when I fight him, next to him the water temple boss is a joke, hell the end boss is a joke in comparison, lol.

Really? I've never had any trouble with Shadow Link- I just lock onto him, equip my Biggorn sword, and stab him. There's absolutely no way he can block him. Morpha's also pretty easy with the Biggoron sword, since it's so powerful.

Never tried to beat him with anything but the regular sword, always seemed more fun that way, challenging, try it sometime. Mirrors your every move.

i hate biggorons sword, doesn't feel right for link to use anything other than the master sword, i still get the biggoron sword, doesn't mean i use it same deal with the mirror sheild, i allways use the regular sheild, dont want to scratch the mirror one

There are plenty of cheap ways to beat Dark Link (not shadow link on ocarina...ask Navi), but I have never used anything but good old swordfighting with the Master Sword. Well of course I used magic and items but I didn't use the hammer...sheesh, so cheap...
Anyway, Dark Link is a sub-boss, not a boss. Morpha is the Water Temple boss. Don't worry, it's easier than Dark Link...but not as fun..Well it is funny to see link get hoisted off the ground and thrown about..

If you ask me, Morpha's a LOT harder than Dark Link if you don't have the Biggoron sword. I personally always get it ebfore the Water Temple and use Link's overhead slash (target the enemy and press A), which makes short work of him, but my first time throguh with the Master Sword he was probably the boss I had the most trouble with.

i used nothing butthe master sword on dark link, no fire, magic or any other weapon.
guess it would have been easier if i did, lol.
morpha was cake walk using just the long shot and master sword.

Well Morpha was easier for me...The first time through in Ocarina of time back in late 98/early 99 when I was 11 to 12 I never died anywhere at all except the first time I fought Dark Link (I got lost in that waterfall boulder room right before and had to use up a potions...).
By the way, was it just me or were all the bosses related to fire just plain easy? Dodongo was a piece of cake, volvagia was a sissy girly man who disgraced dragons and their powerfulness and twinrova was just plain easy (she was fire and ice not pure fire but still easy).
Hey, now that I think of it, they didn't have a wind boss. Most of the bosses were based on "elements" (fire - volvagia, dodongo, half of twinrova; ice - half of twinrova; water - Morpha; lightning - barinade, etc)...A wind boss would have been cool...

Odd that I'm opposite everyone else- Dark Link being incredibly easy for me and Morpha being really hard if I don't have the Biggoron sword (although he's a piece of cake with it).
A friend of mine called me up while he was playing OoT on the bonus disc a couple times complaining that he couldn't beat Bongo Bongo or Twinrova (he died like 3 times with each of them), which really perplexed me, because they were probably among the easiest bosses in the game. I later found out he was wearing the hover boots in both fights. He loves them so much he runs around in them all the time. I guess they're kinda cool, but I only used them when I absolutely had to.

hahahhaha way to be creative and add your own difficulty to the game
i found volvagia hard for some reason first time i played OoT, but bongo bongo is by far the best boss, for the music alone

Shadow Link was so cool. But I just used the hylian shield and the master sword it took a while but it was the coolest way to fight him. I think that was a great idea to have shadow link in the game. BTW is he any different in Master Quest?

Did anyone else use this cheap trick? I used to fight people by holding up my shield, and dodging and flipping around, but later found out you can easily beat an enemy by taking out Biggoron's sword and repeatedly press B. You keep hitting them before they get a chance to hit you. It worked excellent against those skeleton guys with the armor. I forgot their names, anyone remember? I remember with shadow link, i was doing horrible trying to dodge him and be strategic, until i got really frusterated and started only tapping B and hitting him with my sword repeatedly and won. Anyone else do that?

"I later found out he was wearing the hover boots in both fights."
Well that explains a lot. I always found Bongo Bongo to be the hardest boss because I thought I had to wear hoverboots. Of course the fact that the time I beat him I ran out of both magic and arrows didn't help much either.
The easiest boss is by far Queen Gohma. Of course she's the first boss so that makes sense. I find Twinrova pretty hard when she's still the two sisters. It's just hard to hit the other one with the reflected beam.

You have to collect a certain numer of gold skulltulas. I'm not sure I think it is 20 to upgrad to adult's wallet (200 rupees maximum) and 40 or 50 for giant's wallet (500).
So get some gold skulltulas! You should have enough by the time you get through the water temple at least, if not forest temple.
Oh and if you don't have the longshot yet from the water temple, you'll notice you can't get to gerudo valley as an adult. Well you can, just jump the bridge with epona. Just a heads up since you need to get to the valley during the trade process...

10 gold skulltulas gets you the adult wallet (holds 200 rupees), 20 gets you the Stone of Agony (which supposedly rumbles when you're near a secret- never worked for me), 30 gets you the Giant's Wallet (holds 500 rupees), 50 gets you a Heart Piece, I believe, and all 100 gets you a purple rupee, worth 200 rupees. Those last two could be switched- I don't remember well.
SPOILERS
Dark-Link: What do you need a bigger wallet for to get the Biggoron sword? If I remember correctly you get the pocket cucco and hatch it, wake Talon, give it back, get the blue cucco, show it to the weird guy in the Lost Forest, get the mushroom, bring the mushroom to the potion lady in Kakariko Villiage, bring the medicince to the Lost Forest, show it to the Kokiri, get the saw, show it to the carpenter in Gerudo Valley, get the broken Biggoron sword, show it to Biggoron, get the prescription for his eye drops, bring the prescription to King Zora, get the eye ball frog, bring the eye ball frog to the old guy at Lake Hylia, get the eye drops, bring them to Biggoron, get the claim check, wait 3 days, and get the Biggoron sword! Are you trying to get Medigoron's sword and breaking it?

for someone called dark-link you should know that
for ages i found queen ghoma hard cause i forgot to use the slingshot to stun her, i was using deku nuts takes like 10 times longer, she recovers and goes back to the roof like 4-5 times instead of beating her in like 20 seconds using the slingshot

I checked my old Player's Guide and you were correct when you mentioned that 50 gold skulltulas gives you a heart peace. They were not mixed.

ok, now i saw two skulltas in the beginning, but the problem was, they were really high up. how do i get the coins after i had killed them?

Thanks Joey. I knew you got both of those things, I just wasn't sure how many skulltulas you needed for each.
Sabotage- You have to use the boomerang to get the Gold Skulltula coins out of your reach if you're and the hookshot if you're an adult. If you don't have either item yet, you have to revisit the dungeon once you do have it.

Yeah on master quest you're skulltula-cripple until you get the boomerang... Don't worry though you get the hookshot as soon as you're an adult pretty much...
