If you haven't already, try adjusting the way you hold the controller and press the buttons.
Instead of holding the controller like normal the pressing A with your thumb try setting the controller down either on a table/chair or your leg and hammering it with your index finger. You can press the button a lot faster. Just be ready to hit either A+B or L+R to dodge.

Yeah, when I'm forced to button mash, I set it on my leg and rapidly tap the button with my index and middle finger alternately.

How dare you! It's better than recycling the game as a coaster :D

You can also try using only half of both of your index fingers, and very rapidly alternate between them, in case you try it again for some reason.

I put my index finger and thumb together, hold the controller sideways, and use my nails, swiping back and forth between the B and X buttons

remembering back when i got frustrated with that game.....The first time i faught the lake monster i didn't realize for some reason u were supposed to actually try and manuever the boat while hooked onto the monster. I guess i figured it was pulling me and anything i did wouldn't effect much, so each time i got knocked into the water i had to rapidly hit the a button to get back on the boat. I died many many times from that.
laugh now but i bet u guys had stupid moments too!

*raises hand*
I only ran low on shotgun shells a couple of times, other than that I always had a ton of the stuff. The knife was more fun to use, so even if I had ammo I would just knife and kick them to death.

sounds like fun I should try that. Of course u really couldn't get past certain areas such as the chainsaw guys/gals. Once I tried going through the game with only a pistol, it was fun while the bullets lasted.

I ended up with like 10 health sprays for Saddler... I don't know if I used any of them.

The knife wins, hands down.
Try to get to the lake from the beginning of the game using only the knife. It's great.

What is your hit %. I can't understand why some one could run out of ammo. I do come close when I first arrive at the village, but that is because I am bloody thirsty and the pistol is weak. Are you aiming for center of mass? You trying to blow their hands off? Spray and pray? Suplex?

This originating in a thread where they seek help in rapidly hitting a button... I'm not surprised at all.
I always had ample ammo, primarily since I was reactive to what ammo I had on hand and only kept four ammo types (TMP sold or dropped). I would make liberal use of my pistol if my shotgun were low on ammo, but that never really happened often as I balanced use of weapons throughout the game. (Usually in games like DOOM I'd always find myself hoarding rockets - but the mechanics of this game allowed me to break that habit.)
Edit: And they absolutely feed you herbs in the game. I had so many G+G+G, G+R, and first aid sprays that I likely sold of half of what I got.

The knife was changed from being an inventory item to a built-in weapon for a reason. Opening crates. As for birds, use genades. You will catch more, like dynamite fishing... 60% is pretty damn low. From my observsations, you will need to bring that up to about 70% or more of your just blasting the center of mass and be a bit more libreal with the genades.

Hold a pencil and poke like crazy. It is alot easier on the fingers, but still not quite as fast as one or two other methods.
The pistol is definately my primary weapon of choice. Each of the pistols are quite interesting in their trade offs. On my first play through, I ended up with a maxed out Blacktail. that was alot of fun as the firing speed was so high, you could use it like an SMG. Considering it was based off the glock 18, I am not suprised. The handgun was too average for my tastes. Punisher was only good for groups, not one on one. The Red 9 is amazing if you could handle it's low accuracy or was willing to lose some space for the stock. At that point you could almost use it as a sniper weapon.
Shotgun wise, striker. most guys become a joke after you get this weapon.
I personally don't understand the TMP hate. Without the stock, it is a pretty bad weapon, but with it it is godly. With the stock, when Leon brings the gun up, it is now at his shoulder high, not the hips. So a head shot is mere pixels way. You can tape 5 rounds into the head before he can say Blllraggg.
The difference between the sniper rifles is just a matter of taste. If your more of a one shot, one kill guy, both weapons are suitable, but the bolt-action's extra damage lets you hit a less vital part for a kill. Also, I don't buy the scope. waste of some good money unless your an Ashely fan.
Unfortunatly, after a lot of trying, I still haven't broken the 200K mark for castle. Ammo isn't a problem, just not enough guys to kill. There appears to be some sort of limit as to how many guys are spawned on all levels.

The rifles already have a scope, the one you can buy adds essentially useless extra range and kills an odd amount of inventory.

One of the things i've noticed on the boulder scenes is, if you start to tap before it tells you, you will fail. 'Cause you're sorta cheating I guess
Tip 1. Don't start tapping until it tells you to.
I've never struggled on a boulder scene, the hardest ones in the game I thought were the fight with Krauser and the laser dodging just after him.
