We are aware that there are some very successful Japanese franchises that have a small following in the US, and that they could never be reached by putting these products out at retail. We're open to games released in Japan if we can get them translated properly.
Aside from cult classics like Mother (predecessor to Earthbound) and the original Fire Emblem games, many English-speaking Nintendo fans have long pined for Treasure's N64 shooter Sin & Punishment, which is already planned for release on the Japanese Virtual Console service. With the storyline already dubbed in English, could this be the first import-only game to get an official VC distribution in the West?

I have my doubts that it'll ever happen considering that Nintendo's attitude about VC so far has been purism, to the point of no rumble or memory card features (can't mess with that code, it's too fragile). Translations of holy grail Jap-only titles? So far Nintendo has done zero advertising for new VC titles outside of weekly press releases - even I don't think they can maximize return on multiple translation efforts for fan-service giveaways. But I'm not going to stop hoping.

Illusion of Gaia is better than Terranigma. But then, it's better than most games, so that's no knock to Terranigma. I'm just saying, the U.S. already has the best of that series.
