Title: DK Bongo Blast
Post by: bustin98 on February 03, 2007, 02:29:16 AM
So, Matt C's blog drops the news about the new DK game along with a screen shot that may or may not be a Wii screen (it was originally set for the GC).

He makes it sound like its old news that the game is coming. Its the first I heard of it.

And he doesn't see any new controllers for it. But I have to wonder how the clap would be implemented as in the original drums. Could that little speaker have another function that Nintendo has failed to mention so far? I doubt it.

And he also mentions Kirby, Wii Health, and Wi Music. By the way, those are old news too.

I pretty sure it'll still use the bongoes. There are still GC controller ports after all.

But I don't think you can use GC controllers when the Wii is in, well, "Wii mode", can't you??

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed you could use your GC controls with Brawl, so I don't see why it would be any different here.

Gamecube ports still recieve power during any mode the Wii is in. It just depends if the developers add support for the gamecube controllers to work.  Correct me if Im wrong but the first games that suppported the gamecube ports during "Wii mode" is Metal Slug, any virtual console game and probably DBZ tenkaichi 2.

Yeah, you'll be able to use the GC controllers in Brawl.

In fact, many games (DBZ, Billy and Mandy, etc.) readily allow you to use GC controllers if that's your preference.

I think it's ideal, personally, as giving people the choice is a better way of doing things than forcing them to adapt if they don't want to.

What you been up to? School? Work? Wii?

Nothing significant, just been lurking mostly.

You're confused.  You can't use Wii controllers when in GC mode.  We are pretty sure it does work the other way around.

My bad, you guys are right.
As a matter of fact, DBZ 2 DOES support a GC controller.

It does so annoyingly, though.  Instead of choosing to use one or the other in the menu, if there are GameCube controllers plugged in, you're using them.  I really hope other developers aren't so braindead about it.

Bongo Blast, Kirby, and Super Paper Mario were all on Japan's list of Wii games back during Wii Preview.

I have since seen more images of DK Bongo Blast. And you are correct that these games were on the list. Though the only one I could remember was Paper Mario. Now we just need more details.

Well, today's posted screenshots have finally captured my interest.  DK Racing was the game I most regretted losing when Rare left.  The bongos didn't really do much for me, but racing on rhinos, swordfish, and mine carts sure does.

Definitely.  It looks like they're bringing back all the stuff from the original game.  Too bad the graphics are still nowhere close to the movie Rare showed.

It could, if they cut the framerate to 30fps (just like the movie) and upped the polys.

It's on a more powerful platform now, so there's no reason to cut the framerate.

DK Racing - Rare + Bongos - GameCube + Wii - Bongos + Waggle = DK Jet, right?

Awesome, mine carts ftw. Now if only they would purge all references to DK64, the world would be a better place.

I think it's just called Donkey Jet, there's no Kong.

Let's see...

DK Racing - Rare + Bongos - GameCube + Wii - Bongos + Waggle = DK Jet
+ Bongos - Bongos cancels out...

DK Racing - Rare - GameCube + Wii + Waggle = DK Jet

Wii = GameCube + Waggle, so we need to adjust for that.

DK Racing - Rare + Waggle = DK Jet

Is that better?

From above:
DK Racing - Rare + Bongos - GameCube + Wii - Bongos + Waggle = DK Jet
DK Racing - Rare + (Bongos - Bongos) - GameCube + Wii + Waggle = DK Jet
If Wii = Gamecube + Waggle
DK Racing - Rare + (Bongos - Bongos)+(GameCube - Gamecube )+ Waggle + Waggle = DK Jet
DK Racing - Rare + Waggle + Waggle = DK Jet

Therefore
DK Racing - Rare + 2(Waggle) = DK Jet

You're right, since you get to waggle both the Wii Controller and the Nunchuck.
