Title: It's Such A Wonderful Feeling
Post by: MaryJane on January 01, 2007, 01:26:17 PM
I don't know how many of you out there are like me, during  the GC days I was isolated, everyone had a Playstation or Xbox, and I was left with my magically little box with no one to play with but myself. Every once in awhile I would bring my GC over to a friends house, and we would play have a lot of fun, and I would never be able to convince them to buy a GC so that I would have real life people to share the joy of discovery with in games.

Enter the Wii.

As of now, only one of my friends (and his two brothers who I'm also friends with) have Wii's, and it's so cool when I go over to his house to discuss the various places in Zelda:TP we are all playing in and discussing the various accomplishments we have achieved, and where we've found heart pieces, and just sharing the joy of such a wonderful game, then playing WiiSports together and just having great time, while sipping a few beers, and a few other things.

Not that I don't like coming here and doing the same thing, but it's so much better when it's real life people that I've known for awhile.

Now only if I could get his hot sister to play with my Wii, the dream would be complete.

That's my boy!

I am a big fan of videogames (why else would I post here). But there is nothing like playing videogames while intoxicated. Screw rumble feed-back, screw graphics, screw dolby-digital sound....you don't need any of that to feel immersed!

Bact to the topic. Good for you mate!

Yessss, the WiiVodka challenge. Tennis, loser takes a shot. You either get the joy of being on top, or the joy of being wasted. Either way, good times.

Yep, my friends and I play the other SSBB. Super Smash Bros: Belvedere

(ba-dum crash!)

Funny that you mention that because me and my friends get drunk off of Mario Party. . . . .We always joke that Mario knows how to throw a REAL party.  Losers of each minigame have to take a shot of the liquor of their choice. . . We play with 20 turns to the game so technically theres a chance that a person could end up taking 20 shots but I dont think thats happened yet.  We also play Mario Drunken Kart in which the losers of each race has to take a shot.   Both games were in full effect last night and well I had a double shot glass I was using to take shots from.  Needless to say by turn 18 on Mario Party I was out of it . . . .

Anywhoo yea I had the same experience.  It was nice to finally see some friends from the N64 days come back to Nintendo for Wii.  I agree its more fun to talk about video games to people you know in real life.   It sort of assures you that theres other gaming nerds like you .

I hear you. It's great to have everyone else enjoying the Wii - when Mario Party comes out, we'll have a blast.

I think the Gamecube will always be a high point for me, because it was the later years in high school, I was with all my lifelong friends, and we played together constantly.  Only one of my close friends owned one, but all of us would play together.  SSBM will probably reign supreme as my favorite multiplayer game for the rest of my life.  Because it was that time of my life.  Nowadays, I don't game much at college (I haven't even brought my Wii yet, I don't have a TV there) and those friends that I do enjoy playing games with I hardly ever see.
So I think the Gamecube is a landmark for me in many ways, partially because of where I was in life.  But we'll see, with the Wii.  I may end up living with some of those Gamecube friends after college, so maybe the Wii will achieve a similar dominance in my mind.

Yes, I know the feeling. In fact, I would say the same thing about the N64, as that was the system of choice during my years in high school and we played Goldeneye, Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Perfect Dark constantly. Gaming after going to college just hasn't been the same in terms of playing with others, although I have enjoyed winter break so far and seeing old faces and how they react to the Wii. Yet, like Hostile Creation, I really don't think those high school years will ever be topped for me, and that really goes just beyond playing games with others... but then so it goes.

See, it was different for me. Dorm gaming is, and will continue to be, some of the best gaming moments of my life.

I love my childhood friends, but nothing beats getting together with a group of new friends and taking over the big screen in the floor lounge for some late night Smash Bros...

...especially when you KNOW you should be working on your final paper for your Comparative Lit class. >_>...

I can also sympathize with you guys. The days of the N64 and Cube gaming with friends were truly great times. Those were some of the best days of my life and it is sad to see them go. I wish I could go back and have that again but people change, and life changes; at least those memories will live on forever.

Okay, this is kinda nuts.  Within two days of being back at school, I've already had three people talk about playing the Wii or how awesome it is, without any provocation on my part.
Impressive.

Wandering through EBGames last night, everyone was talking about Wii.  It's a brave new Nintendo World.

Interesting tidbit.

My friend was blown away when I told him that he could turn his Wii on and off by using the power button on the remote.

LMAO.

Although I can't laugh at him too much, he's doing much better than I am in Zelda, with more heart pieces and getting stuck less often, therefore progressing more than me in the game, and rubbing it in by spoiling the plot and new weapons... i kind of wanted to kill him when he told me Zelda "disappears" somehow, and that we get a ball and chain as a weapon  yeah i'm pretty far behind, but still i want to kill him.

My friend accidentally turned the game off with the power button, thinking it was for the controller.  Luckily we were between WiiSports games, so it wasn't a big deal.
