Title: What is everybody playing after Zelda?
Post by: Martin Q. Blank on December 22, 2006, 05:59:46 PM
Having just finish the game, there are no other games out there that I am interested in. I purchased Metal Slug but returned it and will wait until it hits $20. What is everybody playing? I may check out some VC games but otherwise my next big Wii game purchase will be Metroid Prime 3. Hopefully it'll come out in Q2 and not next fall.

I rented Red Steel, and beat it in a few days. I'm getting Excite Truck and Rayman. I'll just play those until WarioWare comes out.
After that its the wait to Prime 3.

How long is Red Steel? and Where did you rent it? cost? I have no interest in WarioWare or Wii Play. I really hope a 3rd party game comes out of nowhere and is a sleeper hit. The wait for Metroid is gonna suck. I'm tempted to get an Xbox 360, Gears of War, and Viva Pinata but thank goodness I've depleted my funds on holiday gifts.

Rentals (and possible purchases) include Elebits, Excite Truck, and Rayman. Right now, my only guaranteed purchases are Wario Ware and Wii Play (assuming it is $50 with Wiimote).

Blockbuster is $7.99 for five days (plus five more days before they charge you) I recommend a Red Steel rental.

Rentals are so pathetically expensive these days. I miss the days of the local rental store that had two rentals for two dollars every Tuesday. That applied to everything in the enire place--VHS or video games. Every week I could rent two NES games for the entire week for just two bucks (only $104 a year). Now, I would have to spend $16 every week ($832 per year).

Me and my friends saved Zelda for last after we finished playing the other launch titles we had, Red Steel, Call of Duity 3, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, Rayman, Tony Hawk and Monkeyball. After thouse we played and finished Zelda. Since then we have played The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Excite Truck, Elebits, Metal Slug, FarCy and Super Swing Golf. Super Swing Golf and Excite Truck are the BIG hits around here right now.
I've also put in some time with Zelda (NES) and Bonk (TG16) and even played a bit of Tomb Raider (GCN)
I guess after we get tired of Elebits, Metal Slug, Super Swing Golf and Excite Truck (which I think will not be for a while) I guess the next big games we are looking forward to are; Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, Wii Play, Sonic Secret Rings (We really hope this one doesn't suck), Prince of Persia, Mario Party 8, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and what ever else I missed that I didn't see on GameStop. =P
Nintendo is doing a pretty good job making sure me and my friends have lots to play. I kind of feel bad for my Xbox360 since its pretty much collecting dust right now. I wouldn't mind a dry spell at some point so I can go back and play some of the 360 games I missed, or even finish DoAX2.

Cap, I can only wish to have the money to allow me to play that many games. Alas, I am 15 years old without a car or job.

I have no problem finding games, in fact I am alternating between various Wii games in addition to Zelda which I'm 20hrs into. Those games are Elebits (Love it), Madden 2007, Rayman, Red Steel, and Excite Truck (probaly my second favorite Wii game besides Zelda).

I have my hands full with Monkey Ball, Red Steel, Wii Sports and Wii Play right now, after finally finishing Zelda.

Wario Ware is just a month away, then Excite Truck is Feb 22. That's one great game per month so far, wtf do you expect? Would you really buy a new game every week? 52 games a year? You'd end up with hundreds of games. Be grateful we got the system on time, for the first time in history, and with a solid launch lineup.

Well, I still need to beat Zelda (I'm only at the 3rd dungeon but I'm taking my time on purpose to really appreciate the game!). Then I'll probably play Red Steel, which I bought but only tried for like 20 min. Zelda totally got me sucked in! :P

I'm actually catching up on GCN titles on my Wii at the moment, and playing Baten Kaitos Origins right now. Next Wii game I get will probably be Wario.

The real question is what games have grabbed our attention so much that we're playing them BEFORE finishing Zelda!
Like Far Cry, Mazes of Fate, the original Legend of Zelda...

The worst part about me waiting for a Wii? By the time I get one there were will be far too much games to play...That can be both a good and a bad thing.

" The worst part about me waiting for a Wii? By the time I get one there were will be far too much games to play...That can be both a good and a bad thing. "
That already is happening to me when I bought 6 games at launch and I bought Metal Slug, FF: III and Blaze Wii component cables (19.99) on my birthday with was 12/21.

Once I finish Zelda I will throw myself into Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz if I don't get another game for Christmas.
Now, if I get some game for Christmas I will play whatever that is.
If Monkey Ball is horrible or boring then I will move on to the Virtual Console:
Super Mario 64 Zelda 8-bit Bonk Super Castlevania Super Mario Bros. 8-bit Super Street Fighter 2 Bomberman '93
I have too much to play already...specially since I am in school.

I downloaded Mario 64 and am playing through it. I haven't played the game in 8 years, so everything feels new and fresh. I'm also thinking about getting some GameCube games on eBay, like Tales of Symphonia.
Questions for those who have Tales of Symphonia, I'm not a fan of RPGs like Final Fantasy, so will I enjoy this game? How is the battle system? and How long does it take to beat it? I've heard its long and has a cool story.

Trauma Center, Tony Hawk, and Gunstar Heroes.

Tales is pretty long upwards of 40-80hrs depending on if u do any sidequest and how good u are generally at RPGs. As for the battle system it is better understood in video form than in words.
As for me I've just ordered Elebits and Elite Beat Agents so as soon as they come in the mail I'll be playing those to death.

Whether or not you enjoy TOS depends on what it is about Final Fantasy you don't like.
If you don't like Final Fantasy's hyper-simplistic battle system, then TOS's engaging real-time combat might be right up your alley.
If you don't like Final Fantasy's unintelligible, pretentious plot and character presentation, then TOS is just more of the same (though it tends not to take itself QUITE as seriously as FF).
Ugh, I just said "engaging real-time combat."

I guess after Zelda I'll probably break open my copies of Tomb Raider: Legens and Beyond Good & Evil for the GC...
But while dropping another 20 or so hours into Zelda, I'll probably beat Red Steel and CoD3 in between.
