Title: Signature question/suggestion
Post by: NWR_pap64 on December 19, 2006, 01:49:27 PM
I noticed that many of the new members put images in their signatures when it is forbidden.

My question is; can the moderators turn off the image code in the signature section? If you can, turn off the image code so that people don't go crazy and put images in their signatures.

Just a quick suggestion.

In a parallel forum it would be easy to ban image code on a per-user basis.

My opinion on the matter is that signatures are not necessary.
If I know you, I already know the garbage that is in your sig. It doesn't have to be bigger.
If I don't know you, then I really don't want the stuff that you have put in your sig.

QED

Sig images make it easy to spot a clownboat from a mile away so we know not to waste our time by reading their posts.  If we take them away I might spend a few precious seconds before I realize they're not worth my time.

I like forums where individual users can choose to turn signatures off...

Just in case, I am NOT saying that I am annoyed by all kinds of signatures. What I mean that in order to prevent newbies to put images in their sig to try and block the code that allows them to.

Pap you gotta remember that we're not working with the most in depth forum script here.
We've been lobbying for a newer & better forum script here for a while, but I'm pretty sure its not coming. ever.

I'm sorry. I didn't know the forums were running on an older forum engine. I am just making the suggestion so that newbies don't break the rules.

It's fine if they break the rules.

They break the rules cuz they don't READ the rules.

And they get banned in due time.

I don't like signatures when they're larger than the content of the post.

I mean, you don't write a letter and then sign your name larger than the whole letter.

That being said, I don't even like the size of pap64's sig, and it's all text!

But that's just me.  An on/off switch would be nice if it were possible, but I know that may not be easy.

I had a picture in my signature. But only because I didn't remember them being banned when I read the agreement.

I'm with Jon--two lines max for the sig.

Additionally, the use of images or the <img> tag within your signature is forbidden; text signatures only.
