Title: MadCatz Component Cables are TERRIBLE
Post by: TheYoungerPlumber on December 08, 2006, 06:25:28 PM
I feel dirty for linking MadCatz right now.  I've hooked my Wii up with them, and there's fugly interference or something creating randomly displayed, static-like horizontal lines.  There's a possibility that my Wii is funky since I don't have my official cables yet, so I'm reserving final judgement.  I know my new display is fine, since it had no problems with the GameCube component cables.

UPDATE: Oh ho ho, get this: THE RIGHT AUDIO CABLE DOESN'T WORK.  In fact, I get a loud buzzing nouse in my right ear.  Man, I hope this one is just defective for MadCatz's sake.

UPDATE 2: I'm a moron.  Half way into writing negative impressions I realized I must have the Red audio and Red video cable reversed from the symptoms.  Hooray for logic.  I'm not afraid to show I'm human, so I'm leaving this thread intact in case someone read it before I fixed my own mistake.  DUR!

So how do they look now that you got that sorted out?

Great, but I'm going from coposite to comonent here, so that's to be expected.  I have no idea if it's better or worse than nintendo's cable at this point.

I'm sure they're about equal in quality. The Nintendo ones are pretty thin, just like the Gamecube cables. The lack of insulation will only be a problem if you have crappy electric currents though.

The set I got from Nintendo was much thicker then the Cube ones on the component part of it.

Alright - just to be clear, is the MadCatz component cable worth the purchase? I saw it the other day while I was at a GameStop but decided to wait until the Nintendo cable was available. I like the design of the MadCatz cable (it's very "Monster"-like in appearance) over Nintendo's "official" gray cable - plus it's $10 cheaper.
