Title: Hori Digital Controller - $9.95
Post by: UncleBob on November 13, 2006, 01:57:53 PM
eStarland has what is rumored to be the last remaining stocks of the best non-standard GameCube controller ever made - on sale for $9.95! Shipping is $4 for one or $5 for two.
Apparently they only have these in stock in Indigo. Grab one of these soon - they're sure to not last long. They work great on the GameBoy Player, any GCN games that don't require the control stick and - most likely - with the Wii VC (NES/SNES).

Bah, Indigo. I want black...but hey, beggars can't be choosers, and as I just got a GB player and broadband adapter on the cheap ($25 +tax for player, $3 +tax for LAN), why not?

Hmm...are Wii VC games gonna have button mapping? Also, does anyone think that a driver for the SmartJoy (USB box for using SNES controllers on PCs) will ever come out for the Wii? In OS hackers I trust...

"Many people have wondered how buttons will be mapped considering the classic controller deviates from the design of the Nintendo 64 controller. Controller layout will be determined on a game-by-game basis and controller layouts will be detailed in the included electronic manual."

So I suppose that applies to SNES games as well?

I doubt it. The classic controller is a perfect match for SNES games. No remapping will be required.

But what about GCN controllers? Imagine playing SMW with B and Y mapped to the GCN B and Y. Bad news. They might switch up the face button mappings for different SNES games with the 'cube controller.
