Next Generation Bubble Bursting Arrives as Majesco Entertainment Announces Details of 'Bust-A-Move Bash!' for the Wii(TM) Home Video Console

EDISON, N.J., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Majesco Entertainment Company (NASDAQ:COOL), an innovative provider of digital entertainment products and content, today announced additional details of Bust-A-Move Bash!, its first game for the Wii(TM) home video console from Nintendo(R). Previously called Bust-A-Move Revolution, Bust-A-Move Bash! is scheduled to ship early next year and utilizes the unique interactivity of the Wii Remote to bring Bust-A-Move franchise fans a completely new way to experience its puzzle-based game play.

"The addictive bubble-bursting mayhem characteristic of the series reaches an entirely new level when designed especially for the innovative Wii Remote," said Ken Gold, vice president of Marketing.  "Add the ability to have 8 people playing simultaneously and the mania is practically unlimited ...  not to mention exhilarating."

Bust-A-Move Bash! features 10 different characters, including franchise favorites Bub and Bob as well as many new additions. Players will experience a variety of game modes including:

* Puzzle Mode -- offers 500 levels across five different puzzle areas;
* Endless Mode -- a challenging test of bubble-bursting skill and endurance;
* Vs. Mode -- allows up to 8 players to go head-to-head simultaneously;
* Shooting Mode -- an all-new mode where bubbles come at players from all angles.  To handle the non-stop assault, players can use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk Controller together.

In addition, a new Hyper option speeds up game play while the Slip feature allows players to connect fired bubbles to similar colors even though their aim may be off.

Developed by Happy Happenings and licensed from Taito, Bust-A-Move Bash! joins Cooking Mama: Cook Off as one of Majesco's premier titles for the Wii home video console from Nintendo.  More information about Majesco's exciting line of products can be found online at http://www.majescoentertainment.com.

Eight people? With the four LEDs on the remote one would think that four is the limit. If the Wii can handle eight separate controllers, then that is really cool. Hopefully this is true, and they aren't just having one person hold the remote and another hold the nunchuck/classic.

Can the Xbox 360 or PS3 handle more than four players?

Infernal says that the last game was 8-players, and you did, in fact, have to share controllers...

So, I assume 4 players would use Wii Remotes and 4 would use the Nunchuk.

That would be my guess.

There are Wii games which can use the Wiimotes and GC controllers at the same time (Metal Slug, 2 player mode).

Considering that the Nunchuk has a control stick and two buttons, I'm inclined to agree. But there was some interview sometime (you know, back then) that said there isn't a limit of four.

Not a limit of four?

Hmm, I swore I heard 4 controllers via bluetooth was the limit...

The PS3 uses Bluetooth for its controllers, and supports up to 7 controllers per system.

Well I can obviously cite my sources, so believe me instead of yourself.

If not four, what IS the bluetooth limit?

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth), the limit is 7. Up to 8 devices can share a Bluetooth network, 1 master (the system) and 7 slaves (the controllers).

But Nintendo said very early on, I believe, that the Wii would only support up to four controllers.

I think it depends on the strength of the bluetooth transmitter included in the Wii

Did Nintendo likely spring for the best available? Doubtful, but I won't pretend I know much about bluetooth.

Besides, 8 is easy due to the GC controller ports and I'm not convinced you're even going to see many 8 player games that share one screen.

11 player games? Don't think so...

Maybe they ment online, cause I thought i remembered someone saying Wii-motes and GCN controllers can't be used at the same time.  I could be wrong though.

I don't see that press release saying single-system so yes it's most likely over network or internet.

Bluetooth is a standard.  Nintendo couldn't very well call it Bluetooth if they were using some stripped down version.  I've posted speculation on this subject before, and my theory is still that the Wii's four controller limit is based on tradition and ease of use, and Nintendo can use the extra space on the network for other devices.  There are more neat features of Bluetooth that could allow for some interesting possibilities, too.

I want to know more about this...

I'm dire curious to know if the game will use all 8 potential controllers or be wifi or something.

Can you even see anything if you have 8 playing fields on your screen?

Will 480p, you can actually do 8 on the screen at once, but it could be all shared. It might even be Tetris style where they just make it really tiny. Heck, DDR is 4 players now at least on XBox it is. Bluetooth does support up to 7 devices, but then, you can use both GCN and Wiimotes at the same time. You can even use the Wii Classic and the Wiimote at the same time. How do I know all this? Mess around with some Virtual Console games, and you'll find out that now Zelda can be co-op: one person on the B and A and the other on the D-pad on two different controllers. It could lead to more fun the you originally intended. Too add to that, even TP can be done co-op if you split the Wiimote and Nunchuck between 2 people. It's really fun that way even.

Back on the subject though, they could use the Nunchuck and the Wiimote because both feature the tilt functionality. I'd stick with that one because it says it uses the innvation of the Wiimote in some way meaning GCN controllers will not be used unless they designed it like a Mario Kart: DD style where one person is doing something and the other something else like a backup of sorts. This actually makes me wanna see another G&W Gallery game, but on Wii.

[EDIT]: I just realized something, Nintendo can always release a Bluetooth adapter that works via USB to add the ability to have more players at once right?

For any of you that don't know this, the Sega Saturn could support up to 12 players at once and Saturn Bomberman (USA) supported 10 players at once and it would switch into widescreen to do so, but you'd lose certain items. To preserve gameplay, you'd only use one multitap, and you could then use 7 players at once. Lemme tell you, the more players, the better. Think of Mario Party w/ 6 to 8 players. 8 might be too many, but 5 or 6 would really add a lot to it, you can do so much more with that number. Mario Strikers (3 on 3) could actually have 6 people playing at once which is more fun then just having 4. It's especially better to add more players these days when TVs are becoming so large. I've had my 50" big screen for 10+ years now and while it's not HD, that doesn't mean you can't play 8 player games just fine on it (which I have done).
