Title: Genji 2 reviewed by gamespot
Post by: Flames_of_chaos on November 08, 2006, 05:34:15 PM
And the verdict is .... 6.4

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/adventure/genji/review.html?sid=6161332&tag=topslot;action;1&om_act=convert&click=topslot

And here is their good and bad if you guys want a brief summery:

The Good: Great graphics and sound show off some of what the PlayStation 3 can do; four considerably different playable characters plus multiple unique weapons; some exciting boss battles and other impressive set pieces.

The Bad: Level design is often dull, and sometimes frustrating and confusing; repetitive hack-and-slash combat rarely demands much skill or finesse; some noticeable cut corners throughout the story make the game feel rushed.

I don't really think anyone expected this game to do well seeing as it has been ridiculed since E3 05 (or was that 06) with talk of giant crabs and massive damage. It had no hope. IGN gave the game a 6.

If a game sucks, the graphics are no longer a pro to me...If anything they are a con because the developer concentrated on the visuals more than the gameplay...

Ouch, now what does that leave in the way of exclusives? That Sony NBA game, Fall of Man, and um Ridge Racer?

I've been thinking the same thing for years now.

Pretty graphics can't make a crap game fun.

Ditto both of these comments.

I am thankful that Nintendo is launching with Zelda which should get a 9.0-10.0 score from most places.  A truly must have title.

But I am worried about the Wiis other exclusives.

I see Excite Truck as potentially only getting a 6.0

But Rayman and Super Monkey Ball should both get around an 8.0 or better.

Though the real question is what about Red Steel, what will it get?

Also, when will reviews come out.

Hopefully Gamespot and IGN can have third party reviews out on Friday before launch.

Never fear, I am here.

Trust your instincts.

History shows that hype and ignorance readily overshadow internet reviews.

Here is what I think the Wii games will gets:

Excite Truck: 7.0-7.5 (many say it is tons of fun so I can't see it getting a 6)
Zelda: 9.5-10
Rayman: 7.0-7.5
Red Steel: 7.5-8.0
Madden: 8.0-8.5
Far Cry: 6.0-6.5
Call of Duty 3: 7.5-8.0

That is all I'm going to guess on.

How could they have not said that instead?  Or is that too easy?

I think Rayman may get a little higher but otherwise sounds about right.

Ok if your give Call of Duty and Red Steel a 7.5-8  I believe that Rayman belongs in that category at the very least if not 8-8.5 w/ Super Monkey ball.

I'm on the fence about Rayman, I just have a feeling there could be alot of complaints about the game having little depth because it is a collection of mini-games.

Yeah that's why at the moment I'm probably going to get Super Monkey Ball instead, as hilarious as Rayman looks.

Lol I'm doing the the exact opposite, I'm getting Rayman but mainly because multiplayer could be alot of fun.

Well the thing about Rayman why I decided against it is because while it looks funny and fun there could be a severe depth issue that can plague it later on. Thats why Im chosing super monkey ball over it.

I suspect Rayman's depth issues - if they exist - will carry different weight with different reviewers.  As far as I'm concerned, as long as the games are well-designed depth isn't a huge issue, because this is the type of game I can play over and over.  It's something to do when I'm tired of Zelda marathons.

Umm...this is getting derailed though.  How about that sucky Genji 2?  Not a huge surprise, I always felt it was going to be a second-string type game because it looked like a mindless brawler at E3.
