Title: WTF
Post by: wandering on November 07, 2006, 04:20:26 PM
Work Time Fun sounds like one of the most brilliant games ever created. Here's the premise: you spend hours doing pointless, mindless, repetitive tasks that aren't remotely fun. And you're rewarded with little trinkets that don't do anything for you or your happiness whatsoever. See? It's a satire of modern life. Brilliant! Or maybe horrible. Reviewers, like this one don't seem to like it much.

One game has you putting the caps on pens. Over and over. Sometimes you have to flip them to get the cap on the right side. I made one hundred pens or so before being convinced that was all there was to the game, and then got my $5 check. Gee. I'm having fun. I used that money to buy something at the vending machine, hoping to get another minigame or something else that's fun. Nope, I got a pencil eraser. You see, you collect trinkets, but they don't really do anything. Does this sound fun to you?

I dunno. Maybe not fun per se. But that's part of the charm. The game says it's fun in the title, but it really isn't! It's meant to be ironic, see? I'd totally get it if I had a PSP.

I thought this was going to be a rant about how it's a rip-off of Wario Ware; that would have been funnier.

Not only did this game ripoff the Warioware concept but the character on the cover looks suspiciously like Dr. Tran.
