O.K so now after seeing it did you also notice that it doesn't say Only for Wii?
The exclusivity of a game is always a big deal, becuase it means if you want to play this bad-ass game you must buy this system. Why isn't it present here?
The possibilities of this game not being exclusive to the Wii are zero to none, since as far as i can remember and i've been closely following this games development, it was developed ground up using only the Wii-mote, so porting it would be quite strange... no?
I don't know, i'm just wondering why it doesn't mentiong the fact that the game is exclusive to the Wii? Is it no longer necessary because of the Wii's uniqueness? Nintendo's balls have gotten so big, they're saying just the fact that it says Wii means it's exclusive because you can't play it this way on any other system?
That kind of makes sense to me... I wonder if that's what they are doing.

Excite Truck's box doesn't say "Only For Wii" either...Does that mean it'll be ported?

First I would like to say, that box art is BADASS. Secondly I love the minimalist nature of it. There is just a little popdown from the top that says Wii in such a sleek manner. I think people have equated Wii to unique, as such, people expect all Wii games to be special in some way. The "only on" stamp would make this boxart look kind of tacky.

Yes.

Yes.
Like the boxart, though the blood splatter is a little....misleading, considering there won't be much of the way of blood in the game.

That's some nice boxart.
Maybe Nintendo isn't going with the "only for" label to cover their ass. Last gen a lot of "exclusive" Cube games showed up somewhere else. By not drawing attention to exclusives it may be a way to avoid any potential embarrassment. It doesn't look good when an "only for" game is on a competing console's shelf right next to it. Plus pretty much every Wii game is going to be somewhat unique even if technically a game by the same name is on another console.
And if they did the "only for" stuff they couldn't put it on Zelda, could they? That wouldn't look too good.

so it's so unique that saying only for Wii would be redundant.
that's it, good job everyone. next meeting is on Nov. 21 once you're able to pry your fingers off of the remote. say around 11:59 p.m.
signing off.
good night good luck good trees

Doesn't surprise me. Out of all the DS games I have not one of them has an "only for " spot on them. It's only following in the footsteps of the DS model, nothing more.

That's what I thought. It's overall very "Reservoir Dog-ish" in its design, which I must say I love.

The box art reminds me of the movie VERSUS. If you have seen this movie you will see some of the awesome style in the hero with the gun and sword.

Wow, damn good boxart. I'm genuinely impressed.
I'll check out the movie Versus.

I love that movie. The blood on the cover is really misleading though, since the game contains none. (Redundancy lol) At least being rated T will make it more accessible.

IGN must resave these images in MS Paint, I swear. But yeah, awesome box. And I'm glad there's no ugly "ONLY ON/FOR" junk this time round! =D

I'm sure Nintendo of Canada will find a way to cram a bunch of dubious marketing text into the boxes. If you think "only for" is bad, try "sequel to the BESTSELLER" and the like written all over the cover art.

Zelda is a little mundane, but sort of provoking too.

I could have sworn that Ubisoft originally said that were aiming for an "M" rating. What happened?

I really like this boxart. It reminds me of Frank Millar's Sin City.
Very Nice.

You're right. Us Canucks are screwed either way. They put "Best Seller" on Paper Mario when it first came out and thus had the sales figures of ZERO. And Four Swords says "New for 2003" on it in big letters. On the case. That can't be seen on the store shelf anyway because the game came in a box.

Um, saying something's a bestseller (whether it is/will be or not) doesn't guarantee it won't be at all, Ian.
Though you're right, for the couple of games that said "New for 2003"...that was pretty dumb. Considering the GameCube didn't have as much space as the others in many stores, it should be a given that most GameCube games available to buy aren't more than a year old (except for the really popular titles).

"Um, saying something's a bestseller (whether it is/will be or not) doesn't guarantee it won't be at all, Ian."
I meant putting "bestseller" on a case for a game that just came out makes no sense because at that point it isn't a bestseller yet and possibly never will be. In reality it's false advertising. "Bestseller" suggests that the game is worth buying because it's popular. If the game isn't a bestseller but I buy it under the assumption it is then I'm being deceived. Put the text on the case after it does become a bestseller.
Plus it's so damn ugly. Why can't they just put stickers on the shrink wrap instead? After I buy a game the marketing BS is no longer useful and just looks like sh!t. They put stickers on CDs and DVDs wrapping all the time without having it as part of the artwork itself all the time.

The stores I buy them at put the stickers on the shrink rap, generally, if there are any stickers at all.

It still pains me to see the "bestseller" sticker on my copy of Mario Power Tennis. Luckily, I highly doubt that will happen this generation, seeing as Nintendo isn't even going for "Only for Wii" labels. I really like the minimalistic approach Nintendo is taking with the overall design of the Wii (box art, menu interface, the actual console). As much as I love technology, it is nice to have a clean presentation.
