Title: Question about the controllers...
Post by: mrjoe44 on September 20, 2006, 06:28:56 AM
Hey everyone, this is a stupid question. I just moved into a dorm at school and i bought a whole bunch of new gamecube stuff before coming here. My room mate bought the cube and some controllers but somehow our stuff got mixed up. I wouldn't complain but it bothers me that my brand new controller could be confused with one thats a few years old. The only thing i noticed thats different between them is that one has a CE symbol on the back while the other doesnt. Does anyone know if this means its new or old?

No, it just means that Europe has approved of its use.

Well, if you can't really tell the difference between the two controllers, what does it really matter? :P
I have no idea about model differences, but you should be able to feel it in the joystick and shoulder buttons, and possibly the regular buttons (B particularly). On the old one, the joystick might be looser, the should buttons less clicky/ more sticky, and the b-button might feel mushy. Also look on the joystick for dirt/grime.
Other than that, whatev!

Unless your friend always played with latex gloves, check the seam in the molding on the left and right side of the controler... they will have buildup.
