Well, it's a good thing the PS3 is using Bluray then, right?

When this whole standard thing started before the PS3 was known to feature Blu-Ray I was really hoping it would be the winner.  Why?  Space, space, and more space.  For a computer person the extra space be great.  I could care less about HD Movies.  I want space.  That being said Holographic drives will come out one day.  They have to.  I mean they have only been in development forever and a day.

Space is the very reason why I want them to both fail, actually. After all, would more space be nice? Sure. But technology is improving fast enough that there really is no reason to jump start yet another movie medium generation so soon. Also, let's face it, a film could definitly hog up more space on a single disc then even Blu-ray could provide if you wanted to go with the utmost quality.

In other words, the next jump is going to have to be big for me to even consider dumping DVDs now. I'm talking the convenience of an entire season of a show, with optimal quality, on a single disc with extras, or maybe even a disc that could played in one machine to see the movie and another to hear the theatrical score (although given how niche soundtracks are, that probably doesn't matter to most).
