Here is an article for the LA Times which puts the Wii in a very good light. For those who haven't been following the console closely, a $250 price point with that brilliant controller sounds very enticing when compared to the PS3 and X360. This is another great article on the same subject.
It's nice to see that the Wii is being taken as a serious contender, and hopefully the good press will continue until and after its launch.

Oh, as for the press reaction - I am happy, yes. Tho a little dissapointed that Wii isn't the top tech story at either CNN or BBC.

During the program, someone phoned in with the details on the Wii launch (price and date) and later someone phoned in asking what that price was, and was then very estatic on the phone when they told him "$250 with Wii Sports". Unfortunately, those were the only two times the system was mentioned during the whole segment. :-S
I'm still floored at the amount of hype the PS3 is generating too, which seems to come mostly from casuals (considering the interest in Madden during most of these segments, I'd say this is a prime example of that market). Like someone else said, it's probably going to take them actually walking into the store and seeing the $600 price first hand before they finally go: "whoa... is it really worth that much to me?"

Interesting to see a mainstream article talk about the Wii as a "likely victor".

I remember that a while ago there was a poll in Japan, around the time that the DS was really picking up steam, which showed that the PSP was still ahead in the opinion polls. The result may have been skewed, but it could be that even though the marketing and brand caused the consumer interest to be higher, the DS still sold more. This shows that the price of the PSP was just too much to be worth an investment for many people. The same has a good chance of happening with the PS3 - especially with the outrageous price.

I don't see the big news stations sitting down with the sony and ms presidents. The new controller and marketing Nintendo is putting on the Wii seems to be capturing everyone's attention if not their imagination.

Now that's awesome, great to see this coverage start to seep into the mainstream now. Most companies would kill for what Nintendo got to do there too, which was more or less a video advertorial (editoral which acts like an ad).

Edit: watched the interview, not bad. Reggie is better when he's giving a speech to an audience. In a one-on-one he's kind of menacing and creepy looking, but on stage he's like, "RAWR", in a good way. The guy did make it awful easy for the most part, didn't he?
