Title: Just joined the 360 club
Post by: bustin98 on September 11, 2006, 07:33:15 AM
If anyone wants to play some games, just let me know. I'm playing PD0 and GRAW. Or if you have suggestions as to the next purchase, post it. Though I think I'm waiting for Gears of War (and the Wii, of course).

I hope you enjoy your Xbox 360 and it brings you much joy.
But, since you just announced getting a 360 we can begin an accurate daily count until your Xbox 360 dies.
Perhaps it will last a year...perhaps it will last a week. Perhaps, Perhaps you will get one that will last forever...(probably not.)

Dead Rising is crazy fun, definitely the best game for the system. I'm not a huge fan of "sandbox" games but this one just never stops being fun.
I just beat Kameo and it wasn't terrible... but it wasn't great either. I had the same complaint as PD0 - there seemed to be a good story there, but it's almost like they forgot to tell it. It's much worse with PD0 - there are huge gaps in the story towards the end of the game and the ending comes completely out of the blue. Kameo's not quite that bad - there aren't gaps in the story because they literally don't tell it. But that said, like Starfox Adventures, the good ultimately justifies the bad and it's worth bargain-bin prices; you'll definitely get $20 of fun out of it.
Prey is cool but is ultimately too linear. Pick it up on the cheap in a couple months.

I like the Burnout and the Condemned

I've downloaded a number of demos. Lost Planet is pretty niffty. Condemned reminded me of Resident Evil. Not the story but the story telling mechanics. Very atmospheric, but just like I've never finished a RE game, if I ever got Condemned, I doubt I would finish it.
Dead Rising was fun but repetitive. Some people praise its zombie bashing gameplay but I grew tired of it. Maybe I just need to give it a more in-depth run through.
DOA was fun too, but also repetitive. Tis the nature of fighting games. At least IMHO.
I have the Burnout games for the original. I am very happy with them. Just sucks my previous saves can't be converted over.
I don't know what to do about my Chronicles of Riddick though. Its not backwards compatible, but I have not the room to keep both Xboxes. Shall I pray that Microsoft finally gets this working? You'd think they could since Doom3 and Halo2 are working (other games that use normal mapping). Perhaps CoR is just to dependent on the inner workings of the Xbox?
And while I don't expect my 360 to last forever, at least MS has been good about helping people out with their broken ones. I will keep it well ventilated and free of carpet fibers.

Hmm, I think we may just have different tastes in gaming. I tried the lost Planet demo and thought it was dull and controlled like teh poo.

Enchanted Arms is a Great RPG, If your into RPGs I highly recomend it.
Saints Row is also pretty damn cool, Its a GTA clone but it does a much better job at it then GTA. I personally hate the whole GTA series but I'm having a blast with Saints Row.
Dead Rising was alot of fun.
DoA4 is a personally fav of mine, but you have to be a real fan of Fighting games for it not to grow old after awhile.
Tomb Raider Legend is another great game, it is multiconsole but it looks so much better on the X360.

Congrats! I've really enjoyed my Xbox 360, right now I have Dead Rising, Saint's Row (I actually enjoy it unlike GTA. Still wish there was a female character you could choose ), PGR3 (Amazing racing game), and Madden 2007. Right now I've been playing Uno for it lol, hey it is pretty addicting!

As everyone else has said, Dead Rising is a blast. One thing about the save system that everyone complains about. Just play a while have some fun, then when you die choose "Save Status and Quit" You start the game back from the begining but you keep all your stats and levels, so much fun when you're stronger, faster, and can hold more items.
I liked Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which is kinda funny because I usually don't like racing games.
DOA4 got kinda boring for me, had some fun playing with other people, but not very fun solo play at all (for me).
Condemed was pretty fun and creepy.
Perfect Dark 0, wasn't very fun, but then again I was expecting something like the orignal one and it's not at all.
The one that I continue to play over and over and over again has to be Dead Rising. I love that game. Here's another little tip/fun thing. When you start the game at the part when you have to go outside to reach the other side of the mall, go near the pond and get the sickle near a bench, that's fun. Then go towards the door you're supposed to go through but head to the right into the parking garage, grab the car and head back out to the grass and have some fun driving over zombies, then go to the door you're supposed to go through and grab the lawnmower (kind of a tricky item to use, if you push the button at the wrong time you pick it up) and start mowing away.....ahhhh sweet zombie killing bliss. I personally can't get enough of this game.

Some of my favorite ZOmbie kicking butt items are:
1. Lawn Mower 2. Soccer Ball (one of the most hilarious weapons ever) 3. Shopping Cart

Just to echo what some of the others said. Dead Rising is awesome, as is Saints Row. I too am playing PD0 and GRAW and loving both. I enjoyed Kameo(and it is flat out gorgeous on an HDTV), and Dead or Alive 4 was great too. Condemned is on my list to buy once I have some cash lying around and Burnout is great as usual. Outside of those mentioned titles I haven't come across any other gems. The system in general is fantastic and Microsoft did a really great job integrating Xbox Live to create a very full experience. Wii360 FTW!!

I've got both PD0 and GRAW, but these days I've mostly been playing Call of Duty 2, struggling through Veteran . I loved Oblivion but I haven't touched it since I completed it. PGR3 is just like #2 if you liked that, you'll like #3, especially on Live with Cat and Mouse. Table tennis is probably the only game I don't really play anymore, got boring quite quickly.
In regards to Kameo I've been thinking of picking it up for cheapish, which previous Rare game is it most similar to?

I have thoroughly enjoyed Dead Rising and Oblivion, and absolutely DESPISED (this is in all-caps for a reason) Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo...Both have the worst controls Rare has ever implemented in their games and are just outright not fun to me...
(In terms of what Kameo is most like...Nothing, because it's the worst Rare game ever... =|)

Worse than Star Fox Adventures? I find that hard to believe....

Kameo is far worst then StarFox Adventure but not as bad as Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Perfect Dark 0 was okay It was a par FPS, There was nothing good or special about it, it was just par. Online mode was pretty fun, but other then that It was really just a FPS to tied people over till a real FPS came out.

Brandogg360 on XBL. The Dead Rising demo doesn't do the game justice...well it kind of does, but at the same time it doesn't at all. Lost Planet seems excellent too. You can get PGR3 pretty cheap, which is phenomenal, and of course don't forget Call of Duty 2, unless you're holding out for COD3 which absolutely stunning.

I wholeheartedly suggest Cloning Clyde, because you get to tinker with genetics. And collect action figures.

I think its pretty telling when most people here are in agreement to which games are good for the 360. I'll give Dead Rising a rental in order to do more than the demo. It really starts off weird with the blonde chick who has balloons in her shirt. Then I find 3 fellas who could be from Deliverance looking to pop the dude in the head. Its like the game is Evil Dead done right.?
I DL'd the demo for PGR3 but haven't tried it out yet. I prefer acardey racers like Burnout though. I despise the GT series on PS.
I've played through more of PD0. I'm enjoying myself.
Alot of people are mentioning Uno around the various game forums. I'll see about getting that one too.
I've never heard of Cloning Clyde . . .
And Call of Duty 2 is the one game I wanted when the system launched. But its still $60 and I'm not sure I want to swallow that. Yes, I'll have to eat it when Gears of War comes out, but that will definately be worth it. (I will probably get CoD3 on the Wii depending on how well received it is.)

Cloning Clyde is a Xbox Live Arcade game that is actually fun lol (well besides Uno, I've been addicted to Uno the last few days).

What, the system's been out nearly a year yet no one here has not nearly 10 full priced games?
FUN AND VALUE ARE ILLUSIONS

I've got a few...
Call of Duty 2 Project Gotham Racing 2 Far Cry Instincts Predator Quake 4 Dead Rising Madden NFL 07 NBA 2K6 Need for Speed Most Wanted Condemned Criminal Origins Fight Night Round 3 Moto GP '06
11 baby! I get most (almost all) of my games second hand. Far Cry absolutely sucks, avoid it at all costs, and Moto GP is pretty difficult to control. Everything else on that list is at least worth a rental. Several are worth buying for the multiplayer. Cloning Clyde (demo) is actually pretty fun. Wik Fable of Souls (I think that's the name) is pretty neat too. I've never bought any arcade games (aside from Hexic, which came with the system), my first XBLA purchase will probably Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Lessee, I have:
Burnout Revenge Kameo Tomb Raider Legend PD Zero Top Spin 2 Lego Star Wars II (well, it's travelling through the amazing network of postal services provided by Australia as I write this, anyway)
Wow, I thought I had more than that. I really like Tomb Raider Legend - it's the first Tomb Raider game I've ever played, and I thought it was great fun. Hope another one comes out soon! Kameo was alright - I mean, I played through the whole game and got all the fruits, so obviously I can't have hated it... Burnout Revenge is fun, but probably not worth it if you have it for another console. PD Zero...I didn't mind it, but I didn't play very far at all, as First Person Shooters make me feel crook after a while, and also I'm just terrible at them in general. I would like to play through the rest of it, though.

Figured I'd post this in this thread. Tomb Raider Legend is on sale this week at Best Buy for $24.99. I personally haven't played, but I have heard good things. I see Ben liked it, anybody else? I might pick it up before the end of the week.

I had the demo for Tomb Raider Legend, I thought it was pretty awesome.
