Not if Sony decides to stop shipping 'em to force people to buy the PS3.

Bah, stores have enough of these things in stock to last through the next nuclear winter.

Besides, didn't Sony say that they still plan to support the PS2 for years to come, or am I making that up?

If more PS2's are sold than PS3's (in the short and the long run) then Sony will quickly re-think their support PS2 for years to come.

Actually in one of are Sony threads isn't there a recent quote where they've said that the PS2 could compete with the Wii in that price bracket.  Let me go find it...

I've seen that quote too.  However, like I said there, I don't think Sony will take that too seriously.  PS3 needs the attention much worse, I think Sony will just rely on third parties to keep PS2 strong.

It's impossible for PS3 to outsell PS2. We should take bets on which month PS3 will start outselling it, i'll guess November 07, but only for a month, then at random months in 08.
