Title: Jill Valentine To Return In Resident Evil Wii!?!
Post by: capamerica on September 04, 2006, 05:51:31 AM
Quote

Details of Resident Evil Wii so far are non-existent (beyond the fact that it is in development), but if a report on fansite Resident Evil Horror is accurate, the main protagonist in the game may be Nemesis heroine Jill Valentine.

Speaking to the site, actress Tara Platt (who has previously appeared in the Halo 2 ARG ilovebees, Dirge of Cerberus and voices Temari in Naruto), confirmed that she will be voicing Valentine in the game.

Traditionally Capcom doesn't use high-profile actors for roles in the Resident Evil titles, so Platt's appointment wouldn't deviate from the policy - though the publisher has yet to confirm or deny the claims.

PLEASE BE TRUE!!!!!!
I like Jill far more then Leon. To me she is more of a main Resident Evil chracter then Leon will ever be.
Now all Capcom has to do is bring Chris back *crosses fingers for Resident Evil 5*

I hope Resident Evil Wii keeps the camera perspective and similar controls to RE4. Only new control perspective of last generation, and I really liked it.

Have Jill AND Ada in the same game.

I get the feeling Resident Evil for the Wii is going to be one of those crappy Gun Survivor games.  Consider how Capcom loves to make stupid decisions, I wouldn't be surprised if it does end up being one.

I don't know about that. Capcom's been on a role with absolute ass-kicking games for the past 2 or 3 years now. I don't see them making a bad decision like that any time soon.

Capcom has had a few good games over the last few years Phoenix Wright, Resident Evil 4 and Dead Rising being three of the best. But they haven't had the best track record for the last 2 - 3 years.

Final Fight: Streetwise, Beat Down, The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge, Resident Evil Outbreak 1 & 2, Crimson Tears, Onimusha Blade Warriors, Resident Evil: Dead Aim, Haunting Ground, Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown, P.N. 03, Chaos Legion, Onimusha Tactics, Auto Modellista, Dino Crisis 3, and Devil May Cry 2 were all made within the last 3 years and they were all pretty sh*tty games. okay some of them were so-so but very few did well or were met with rave reviews like Phoenix Wright, Resident Evil 4 and Dead Rising.

I have faith that Resident Evil Wii will turn out good but I wouldn't bet money on it based on Capcom's track record.

Capcom have had crappy DS support though (minus Phoenix Wright) and I see no sign of that changing with Wii. It's probably another remake. Capcom just don't care about Nintendo anymore. Oh yeah and both the Onimusha and Devil May Cry series are absolute filth.

actually, Capcom has been disputing with Sega over who makes the worst decisions......Sega has the lead obviously, but Capcom has been putting up a pretty good fight XD

regarding the topic, this could be pretty interesting....

Cool!  As "Umbrella Corp Chronicles", we likely WILL see Jill and Ada in the same game!  (And Rebecca and Claire too.)  Wowsers.

Hope it's more epic than plain old "gap-filler", though.

I'm stealing this from Bill (buhahaha...), but apparently the Japanese name, according to Famitsu, is going to be:

Biohazard Umbrella Chronicles

So that definitely leads credibility that Jill might be back if this either takes place before RE4, or just in general sees the rise again of Umbrella.

If this game is on a track and you dont have free control I don't even want to know it exists. After a solid formula in RE4 it seems like all they have to do to have a hit is improve it a little and use the Wiimote logically. Capcom, listen to me closely, DO NOT SCREW THIS GAME UP BY MAKING IT A LIGHT GUN GAME ON TRACKS.

yay for the new name

I really hope that this game covers what happened between RE3 and RECV and RE4.....too many things to complete there =| (as the RE3 epilogues where certanly lacking...)

Oh for crying out loud, you guys are so gulliable. This info came from a HONG KONG MAGAZINE!!! You you EVER seen an HK or any mag from mainland China to break the first news on game for Nintendo systems!? Do you know the blank stares you get when you go up to a store to look for SNES games? Do you know that most people in HK and the mainland have never seen a N64/Gamecube before in their life (or even Xbox)? Yeah sure, there are those in-the-know hanging out online, but they are the minority. I bet most of China thinks Wii is a controller for PS3.

I'm gonna label this story as a gigantic load of BS delux and grab a 5 ton bag of salt to go with it.

When was it official? There's no info on the name period. I mean it MIGHT be possible, but considering the source, I wouldn't put much faith in it especially when Capcom's... someone who's name I forgot denied the existence of Resident Evil Wii weeks ago.

Did you see when this thread was made? It was made on Sptember 4th, the Famitsu came out yesterday. The original info came from an HK mag. It was only confirmed yesterday. I'd rather trust famitsu than some HK mag. Well at least it turned out to be true. And looks like a remake of RE 1 with first person view as well.

Post by: Luigi Dude on September 14, 2006, 07:03:08 AM
OMG this is the latest info.  This game has definatly jumped up on my most wanted list now.

-The game consists of 4 "chapters", RE1's mansion, RE2's RPD, RE3's city areas and RE4's village (plus surrounding areas).
-Each chapter has 2 characters to choose from. RE1 has Jill and Chris, RE2 has Leon and Claire, RE3 has Jill and Carlos and RE4 has Leon and Ada.
-There are several characters that can be unlocked by playing through the game: Rebecca Chambers, Hunk and Albert Wesker.
-The gameplay of all chapters is designed around RE4's. Press the B trigger on the wiimote to go into over-the-shoulder view, aim with the pointer and press A to fire.
-The game will have QTEs, but rather than push buttons you have to make motions with the wiimote in order to get through them.
-All characters will have mêlée attacks, just like RE4.
-To encourage replayablility, each character has strengths and weaknesses, similar to how in RE4:Mercenaries Ada had the least health, Krauser was the slowest, etc.
-Just like in RE4:Mercenaries each character has a unique set of weapons. What's more players can only carry 2 weapons at any one time. Chris gets a pistol and shotgun whilst Jill gets a pistol and grenade launcher.
-You will be able to find several new weapons during each stage. For example, RE1 will have Richard's shotgun, RE2 will have the Desert Eagle, RE4 will have the Chicago Typewriter. There will also be new weapons like Krauser's anti-personnel robots.
-Similar to Devil May Cry 3, after each chapter you can save your data and any new weapons picked up will be available for use in Arcade Mode.
-Arcade Mode is like a giant Mercenaries minigame, where you pick a character and stage and blast through it. Building on the resounding success of Mercenaries seen when RE4 was released.
-Scenario mode will feature a large number of ingame cutscenes.
-New content not in the games that the chapters were based on will be added. The primary goal of this will be to link RE4 and Umbrella's status in it more closely with the rest of the series.
-Ammo conservation will play a part in the gameplay, so it's not just constant action like RE4.
-Trailer coming at TGS.

Wow... all 4 games remade or what? Are those chapters just tiny little levels or the entire game (as in the entire mansion of RE 1 etc)!? That's insane!
Title: RE: Jill Valentine To Return In Resident Evil Wii!?!
Post by: Luigi Dude on September 14, 2006, 07:20:45 AM
I'm pretty sure it'll just be the main parts of each game remade, not the entire game.  But just being able to replay some of the area's from the older games with RE4's controls is a dream come true for me.

See second paragraph. Straight from the horse's mouth. I was merely skeptical knowing Capcom has been screwing Nintendo over and over so I rather keep my optimisim down. There's nothing wrong with being skeptical and find find good news instead of getting hyped only to get bad news.

Sounds good, but I am torn. Do I beat RE4, then REmake, then RE2, then RE3, then CV, then this? Or do I beat RE4, then RE1, then this? Or do I beat RE4, then try to pretend the rest of the Resident Evil series didn't happen?

You forgot RE0.

Remake is worth playing, so I'd recommend it (play at Jill).  Zero can be skipped; it's fun, but not a necessity.

I haven't played 2, 3 or CV, but you can probably skip those as well.

So...isn't this bad news? We're not getting a completely original RE Wii? We're not getting RE 5? We're getting shafted by Capcom yet again?

I don't see any reason to feel positive about this, really.

This is basically Capcom once again sucking up to Sony and MS.

I mean, when it's freaking clear that the DS is a HUGE phenomenon around the world they are supporting the PSP like crazy. True, they are mostly ports, but you would think they would create ports for the most successful handheld in recent times.

My problem is, I assume Resident Wiivil will spoil the stories for the older games...and I like to experience stories in their original format first (reading the book before watching the movie and whatnot.) But I'm not sure I could slog through RE0 without 'type c' controls, or the other games with their craptacular graphics. I guess I'll try to get through them, and if I can't before ReWii, I'll go ahead and play it...

2's been on, like, every system at the time.  I remember rumours earlier this year of RE2 being remade for the PC.  It already was on the PC, but this is probably a remake.  (Why not, if it's been on everything, might as well be on everything again.)

I admit to being a latecomer to the RE series, mostly coming on board after the impulse purchase of "REmake".  I played 2 and 3 on the PC before playing 0 and 4 on the GameCube.  We've also got Code Veronica - it came with the Dreamcast my brother bought on eBay a few years ago.  (Not really sure why - I think he got it for Shenmue but he doesn't even play that much because he doesn't like some forklift race or something...)  For some reason I didn't get very far in Code Veronica and didn't care much for it...but maybe one of these days I'll try again, since I do like the series enough that I probably should.

I really liked 2 for some reason, perhaps that's why it was ported so much.  I'd recommend it.  3 wasn't as good though.  Since C:V isn't in this Umbrella Chronicles I'm wondering how important that story is, but from what I briefly glimpsed in a story FAQ I thought it would be important enough to mention...

Everthing between RE1 and RE4 isn't important.

Well, except for "Leon & Barry's Game Boy Color Love Boat Adventure Gaiden" WHICH SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE INCLUDED AS A CHAPTER FOR THIS NEW Wii GAME.

Personally I'd say 3 and CV could be skipped. I mean both were alright but the ones that really shine are 0, REmake, 2 and 4. I have high hopes for this title and I can't wait to see a gameplay video.

I loved CV, it was the last game (until RE4) that had me say "wow oO" at the graphics.....I wonder why it isn't in this compilation though, seems odd.....

but yeah, 2 is a must

and the RE2 PC remake thing, was just an updated port, with better compatibility with newer PC and higer resolution everything (no idea if it was released though)

offtopic: the forklift race in Shenmue was great ^^
