My condolensces. I loved school, but I don't miss going back at all!
Then again, those 2-4 month vacations sure beat the lousy 2 week ones I get now.

I don't want to go back to school. I'll get to program a game with a few other guys, but I don't want to deal with any of my non-programming classes. And I don't wanna go back to Washington. It SNOWS there! DX

I know tons of people here that hate cold weather, I think it's a personality trait. Isn't Bill from, like, Arizona or Kentucky, or Lethal Lava Land?

Oh man, I couldn't deal with school again. Right after high school, I decided the only way to have amazing fun adventures and get paid nicely for it is by being a stunt man and actor. And I refuse to get some degree at a University. And after playing Soul Calibur II it inspired me to learn the same martial arts as Kilik, Shangua, yung sung and sung mina. So the only school im at is a wu shu school.
Just make sure you do what you want to do Garnee! I hate when people tell me I need a back up plan if it doesn't work out, so I need to take classes anyway. Its working out great, and when I do wind up destroying my body trying to imitate Voldo for a movie, that will be ok by me!

lol. I was thinking about the people I know from Ohio. They come down to Tennessee and it's High humidity and 80 something degree and then they tell me their cold. I find it funny because it's Ohio. Most of the year it is somewhat cold up there. At least you have good reason.

i loooove me some cold weather. i cant wait for winter to start. the weather is actually cooling down here so i save most of my outings for the night time when its nice and breezy. i live in new york so the climate is normal in the sense that its not particurlarly warm or cold most of the year like some other places. i just cant stand the heat though. i was born in the summer but really, just cant take it. i've been tolerating it better this summer, since im driving now and i'm stingy with the a/c in the car so i have no choice but to bare with it. the cold has always been my favorite though, im not sure why.
i think i like gettig warmed up when i am cold, its so much easier then cooling off when its hot out lol. the only bad thing about the winter is less scantily clad women
as for school...eh. i did one semester in college and stopped because it was high school all over again: ie i wouldnt go to any of my classes and instead hung out with all my friends around campus (cept this time i had a job). i havent gone back in almost two years now. its kind of depressing when everyone tells me how important it is and what not, but i just dont think i can deal with it. i cant just sit there and be lectured to and take notes, its not for me. i'd rather be working.
if i do go back to school i think i'd take either music and/or video game programming, since they're my two loves. i keep seeing commercials for devrie's video game programming courses and im thinking whether i should do it or not (since i loathe the idea of being taught music). then again should i really be listening to the tv for school advice?? lol.
anyway im done rambling now. i dotn wanna think about school i'll just get more depressed.

The only reason I'm still in college is to put off real life as long as possible.
I've no idea what I want to do, and I've changed my major yet again. I really don't like the school I'm at, but I don't want to transfer, since this is already the third school I've been at.

that was going to be my game plan for awhile, but it would of been too expensive to stay in school putting off real life.
i've been in my crappy retail job for exactly two years, and in the first year i got promoted to a part time asst. manager. i was going to quit the day they told me i was being promoted, so i stayed for the extra money. now im sick of it and want to move on, but just afraid that i wont be able to find a place that will pay more then what im being payed now, or to even match it. this is my first job and im sure it looks good on a rusume that i was promoted so fast, but i cant really look for anything out side or retail since its all i know and dont want to get payed less then what i make now, but at the same time i doubt i'd automatically get a job as a manager at some other retailer and get payed the same or more because retailers usually pay crap.
its an annoying situation to be with, but atleast im putting money aside so i have something to fall back on should anything happen, and to support me if i have to take a job if and when i go back to school that either pays less or doesnt give me enough hours. plus, its easy Wii money for now
all i know is if i dont get into school soon, my parents are probably going to kick me out of the house and then i'll be stuck in "the real world" and never get back in to school because i'll be trying to pay for rent and so on.

Real world can bite hard. I work more then I ever had and make the least amount of money I've almost ever earned. Retail stinks. My brother can flirt from job to job with no education. Mostly because he's charismatic and a socialite. It's a lot of who you know as well and luck.

Yeah, if you're socially capable, you don't need education. You can make a ton of money in sales.
For that matter, I think trades are getting more and more attention. People don't have a clue how to fix stuff, so you can make a killing doing it for them. Seriously, when everyone has a University/college education, then it means nothing. It's all about what you can do, and how good you are at getting people to pay you to do it.

I'm with you on the weather, easycure. Cold weather > warm weather
Oh, also, college > high school
No idea about the real world.

well...don't listen to people when they say you can't follow your dreams. College is important, though. To the people who have already dropped out, that's cool, I'm a 'do whatever the hell you want' kind of person. But if you're considering college...Well, I'll quote my grandfather, an incredibly smart guy who works behind the counter at a fast food type of place "Go to college, so you can be one ordering the food, and not serving it." /end boring lecture
edit:
Quote Yeah, if you're socially capable, you don't need education. You can make a ton of money in sales.
Even so, understanding stuff is important and stuff.
...Although, noted science fiction author Orson Scott Card thinks a college education is unnecessary when you can just read lots of books. Coincidently, he also thinks universities are overrun with crazy liberals.
Okay. I think I'm done.

I've wanted to get into game development since elemntary school. In junior high I started programming mods for Unreal engine games and I've been having a lot of fun with that ever since. I'm going to DigiPen right now, and it's kinda cool, but definitely not I was expecting.
INeedToFinish: Both are good points, I think. When my dad heard that some students get hired from DigiPen before graduating, he mad a big deal about me finishing school before getting a job. He really wants me to have a degree to show employers. I think it's a good point. Even if you have some experience, having a degree on top of that will only make you a more attractive candidate.
At the same time, though, I think reading books is in many cases enough. Last year I felt like I'd've been off just as good if I'd just been given the book list for each class and left alone. Most of my professors just didn't do anything helpful. Some of them didn't even make much of an attempt to, just giving us a few vague hints about how to do stuff. Okay, so maybe in the real world you don't always have things spelled out for you and you have to find things out on your own; if that's the case, why do I need to go to school?

I was in university doing a chemistry major but I wasn't too happy about several things so I decided to back-off of school for a year, when I go back to school (September 2007) I will go to another college and I am going for a "Mechanical Technician - CNC (Computer Numerical Control)" program, this program is only 1 and a half years so I will be very happy about that at least. In the mean time I am working part-time at a NoFrills (I don't think it exists in the USA) and I am enjoying my stress free life of no school. Work isn't that stressful unless customers start asking for too many things when I am the only one working in my department.
