These are stats on the number of people who view PGC and the lack done by Alexa. I'm sure that PGC has better stats. If you notice the site has been on the decline. I'm not to surprised. Hopefully news will pick up and things will get better.
Interesting stat:
If you talked to a million people about 50 of them had been to PGC that day.
To put that in perspective:
If you talked to a million people about 3,300 of them had been to IGN that day.
3% of them would have visitted wii.ign.com
So if you talked to a million people about 99 of them went to Wii.ign.com that day.

Oh, as for the decline, I'd guess that's because it's summer. I could find out whether or not that guess was true by spending a few minutes at that Alexa site, but I'm lazy.
edit: okay, looking over the statistics it isn't just because of summer. So now I blame Louie's departure. And also the fact that the site is still called 'planetgamecube.'

It looks like PGC's popularity is directly related to the public's interest in the GameCube. At first every one was excitied but after they saw what a flop it was they stopped caring. Every now and then people became excited again but not for long. Now that nobody cares about Twilight Princess anymore the ratings have gone way down.

It seem it preety much go with nintendo news but I odd that it's lower in 04 than 05? Their was a new Zelda, Paper Mario, and Metroid Prime 2 while in 05 their wasn't new game, (beside DK:JB) must have been the awsome daily mailbag keeping the site alive....

But it should be noted that Alexa can be very inaccurate. Stats are largely based on their toolbar hits (i.e. tracking spyware).

Wikipedia says Alexa partnered with the Open Directory Project of January 03 which is also the peak (but also around the midpoint of the cube's cycle). Don't feel like reading it all to find out what the ODP is.
"Users running any browser except Internet Explorer are not represented. Thus users of Firefox, Opera, Safari, mobile phone (WAP) browsers are all ignored." and "Users running spyware and adware prevention programs are under-represented or ignored."
Maybe Firefox's popularity and anti-spyware programs deflated PGC's numbers.

However, the gap before that point is pretty damn shameful...
Anyway, as others have mentioned, Alexa is not a very good source to get the exact vistor figures (comparing the data we have, ours is way off due to non-IE users). However, it is a decent way to compare sites' respective traffic against one another.

That data is culled from the nameservers. The error is not Alexa's, but whoever is in charge of the Planetgamecube.com doman name and never updated that information.

Yes, ideally, that name change should occur during the low point in visitation, so the site is all ready to go on the new domain name when its leading up to the Wii launch (which will cause a huge surge of traffic, one can be sure).

Sincere. As a webmaster, it's ideal to shift the domain name as quickly as possible on larger sites if you are going to do it too, primarly due to the way Google spiders, and how they prioritize in what order results turn up.
