Title: Nintendo Power Subscription - CHEAP
Post by: UncleBob on August 06, 2006, 07:45:15 AM
(Please read this entire thread before ordering)
Okay, so everyone knows that Nintendo Power is very Nintendo-Biased.
So who the hell cares? I'm convinced that the world would be a much better place if everyone was more Nintendo-Biased!
Seriously, this is a good deal for Nintendo Power. 1 year subscription for $4.69! Just go here!.
On the down side, the e-mail address you set up for this will get some SPAM - so use your junk e-mail address for it.
But, to make the deal sweeter, use this coupon code when checking out - AMAZBARDEC and you'll get a whopping Seventy Cents off the price - so a one year subscription is only $3.99! (Coupon Code still works as of October 10th).
Now, if you're daring like I am, I purchased five of these. I said the first one was a new subscription and the second-fifth ones were renewals - I have high hopes that they'll stack - giving me a five year subscription to Nintendo Power. The best part is that the above coupon code gave seventy cents off of each subscription! 5 years for $20!
Isn't that a good deal?
(Thanks to the gang over at CheapAssGamer for this deal!)

Does Nintendo Power stack like EGM though? If it stacks I'll go for 5 years for $20 too, whats $20? Its nothing...
but $0.50 for an Avatar for a day..... thats too expensive, I can't afford that

I assume they'll stack... If not, considering all the great things Nintendo's Customer Service has done for me in the past, I think they'd fix this one - after all, why would anyone want five copies of each issue?
About the Avatar thing, though... Just think BnM, if you had control of my avatar, you could have even more breasts floating around - "Planet Game Cube Forums, now with 8 times the breast power of a real woman!"

Even though it violates my policy of not paying for magazine subscriptions, I went ahead and ordered it. Thanks.
Please let us know what happens with your renewal scam. If it works, I might do the same.
Does this deal end any time soon?

I don't have the slightest clue when it ends, that's why I went ahead a bit for getting all five years (hopefully) in one hit instead of spacing them out a few days apart...

Anyone get their first magazine yet? It's been two months and I haven't gotten one yet. I'm getting a little annoyed.

We're only 10 weeks into the "8-18 weeks" window that they say to wait. I'm getting impatient as well, so I'll let you know if/when I get something.

Eighteen weeks? LOL. Awesome. Nintendo won't even exist by that time.

Haven't gotten mine yet either. 18 weeks? LOL. Yeah, sure, I'll wait 4 months. meanwhile the dummy email address I signed up with is getting more spam than they suggested it would.

Just about 13 Weeks - and I've gotten my first issue of Tips and Tricks magazine (free subscription) that I signed up for some time after this...

I got my first issue today! In fact, I'm good through November 2011. Whoo!
$20 five year subscription.. If you don't mind waiting four months for your first issue...
The coupon code is still good if you want in on this, btw.

I haven't gotten mine yet.
It's awesome that you got five years instead of five issues. I may have to add a few more subscriptions.

I'm bumping this bad boy.
I received an e-mail from the website today offering coupon code SECRETSALE18 that gives 18% off each subscription--that lowers the final price to just $3.85 per year (which blows away Bob's pathetic $3.99 price). The sale supposedly ends in two days. However, just for kicks I also tried Bob's coupon code and it still works, so even if you miss this sale you can still pay $3.99 per subscription if you feel like getting ripped off.
I went ahead and ordered another two years worth of magazines because they make good breakfast reading.

sweet deal! However Nintendo power blows chunks. I couldnt torture myself for 5 years like that. That magazine is like 60-70% handheld garbage im a console man. That said I subcribed this year solely to get the Zelda Soundtrack and the guide. I wouldnt subcribe unless they offered must have stuff. In the last gen i subcribed twice. Once for the Collectors Zelda game and another for the Metroid echoes bonus disk. Wait, i also subscribed when i preordered Wind waker and got the guide with it too. SO unless they give me something i want they could give it to me for free and i would deny it.
id rather get my gaming news from here or the like(wiire or go nintendo) Better info and its free.

Yeah, I've heard the rumors... I can't imangine a world without Nintendo Power though... I'm sure it'll just be revamped.
Perhaps we should start a letter writing campaign?

Dear NP,
We hate the way you do business.
The magazines you send always get torn up in the mail cuz you rarely use plastic wrap.
Your nonexistant demo disc program sucks.
Withholding exclusive information till next month's issue is an old tactic that doesn't work in this age of high speed words and pr0n.
Close up shop now, you are all obsolete.
Your existence does not help your parent company expand its audience and attract new customers.
Have a wonderful time cleaning your office.

Jeez Pro, what did you get your Mom for mother's day? A kick in the teeth?

Ideally NP could be a subscription-only, regularly updated Wii Channel with exclusive high-quality TV-viewing content. As an additional layer, the subscribers would still get monthly gifts thru the postal service.

Monthly gifts from Nintendo Power? Yeah right. My like once every two years. That Smash Bros. CD is worth a full lifetime subscription, though.

If the rumors are true this is further proof that print based media will soon be obsolete and all info will be distributed through the internet.

With your attitude, NP should just give up for good along with any special gift like that CD. In fact, they shouldn't even bother with the Wii channel and increase Virtual Console prices and charge you for every Mii sent/received.

Will it get me wonderful, fully orchestrated versions of my favorite video game songs, available in a format I am able to change and take anywhere I go? No? Then you have my attitude down wrong.

BUMP
So my subscription to Nintendo Power is ending soon. The link in the original post still works, but the price has gone up to a whopping $12.95. I don't mind paying $4 for this magazine, but I'm certainly not prepared to spend $13.
Anyone know of a better deal?

I like having attitude.
Anyways, when I used to subscribe, I'd do it entirely for the free player's guide that came with it. Want a player's guide to any classic SNES game? Call 'em up and see if they have any remaining copies of it available. If they do, you might be able to capture it gratis.

That was what I loved about Nintendo Power when I subscribed to it. I still have most of them (I especially liked one for the GBC release of Dragon Warrior III).
