Title: Looking for a game recommendation
Post by: shqippy on July 30, 2006, 09:18:08 AM
I'm looking for a birthday gift for my nephew.  I had read a great review of Elder Scrolls:  Oblivion, but he only has Gamecube.  Is there anything remotely similar for this platform that you would recommend for a 15-year-old?  Thanks in advance!

Nope, nothing like that. There are a few japanese rail playing games but no real RPGs. But generally real RPGs are rare on consoles anyway, if he has a PC I'd grab Baldur's Gate 2 or Neverwinter Nights from a bargain bin.

You should get him Animal Crossing, if he doesn't have it. It's just like Oblivion, except instead of people, there are cute animals. And instead of fighting, there is bug-catching and home decorating.

(You know, everytime someone makes a thread like this, I'm reminded how narrow the GameCube's library is. Great if all you need is Nintendo games (and really, what else do you need?), pretty mediocre if you want anything else. Just one of the many reasons I'm looking forward to the Wii so much.)

Hmm First Person Action Medieval RPG? Kinda of a narrow category.

Maybe...
Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Paper Mario TTYD
X-Men Legends
Resident Evil 4 (although it is a mature title)
