Title: Ninety Nine Nights Demo on Live

The N3 demo is out on live. It is only one level but I was very impressed. I actually want to purchase the game now. The demo got me wanted to run out and buy the game and its over two weeks away. You guys should check it out.

You can buy this game right now. It's called "Mystic Heroes" on the GC and "Dynasty Warriors" on the PS2.
Seriously, it's the almost the exact same game, right down to the power meter for special attacks, and the fact that arrows are your character's worst enemy. As near as I can tell, all they added were item upgrades which you can equip and an opening FMV.
This game type is always fun for the first couple of hours, then rapidly becomes boring as the repetition REALLY starts to sink in. Good for a few hours of mindless fun, but I'd recommend renting instead of buying.

At first I thought that maybe someone who was part of the "Dynasty Warriors" team was making this game, but when I looked into it I couldn't find any connection.
The game was made by Tetsuya Mizuguchi who made Sega Rally Championship, Space Channel 5, Rez, Lumines and Meteos. With help from Korean developer Phantagram who made Kingdom Under Fire and Phantom Crash.
I looked up the reviews for it so far and they are kind of across the board: Play Magazine - 9 out of 10 Xbox-Evolved - 8 out of 10 GameBrink - 70 out of 100 Games Master UK - 69 out of 100 Game Axis - 6.6 out of 10 Edge Magazine UK - 6 out of 10 gamesTM - 5 out of 10
This gives me hope that its not going to be a bad as Mystic Heroes and Dynasty Warriors. note: Mystic Heroes is also on the PS2 and the Dynasty Warriors series is also on the Xbox.
On another positive note they say Kingdom Under Fire is similar to Dynasty Warriors, And the 2 Kingdom Under Fire games for the Xbox got much better reviews then almost all the Dynasty Warriors games (only 1 of them passed Kingdom Under Fire and that was only by .1%)

I downloaded the demo today and I like it, the controls are fluid and the number of those evil goblins on screen is big plus the art direction is pretty decent also if Microsoft did the localization they did a good job. My only gripe is the terrible manual controled camera system since I can never get it to a good angle.

Well I rented the game the other day and I have to say the game is quite lame. The visuals are gorgeous in places, but that is where the positives end. The game gets repetetive even within the first main mission, you basically fight hordes of enemies and hack them up, repeat. It took awhile to get to the end of the mission where I fought a big troll with more mindless enemies. He ended up killing me and my gameplay experience was done. I did not feel like restarting the whole level again and going through the mindless battles. I usually don't mind mindless hack N slash but for some reason this one got boring REALLY fast. When you don't feel like going through the first mission again because you are already bored, that is not a good sign. If this is what the next generation is all about, then gaming is in for a HUGE decline. So avoid it like the plague.

From what I've been hearing from most people is that N3 is just a Dynasty Warrior clone with a better story. And the Dynasty Warrior series has a love it or hate it relationship with gamers.
I never played any of the Dynasty Warrior games so I don't know if I like that style of games yet, and I still need to rent N3 at some point and try it out for myself. I did have fun with the Demo, But I can see how something like that could get boring fast.

I played it at my friend's. It's fun for a while, but I'd see it as more of a rental.
There are various stats/scores kept by the game, but it doesn't matter, because for most of the stats hardly any skill is involved: it just shows that you spent more time exploring every inch of the map and destroying every last enemy. It might also mean you did a better job of strategizing with your soldiers, but the strategy is more of an afterthought than an important part of the gameplay. You can beat the levels without any soldiers.
Oh yeah, and is there any co-op mode? Because we could have been playing together, but for some reason we didn't. Co-op would have been fun.
