Title: Oregon really is the center of the Universe
Post by: Svevan on July 25, 2006, 07:57:37 PM
Well isn't Oregon looking handsome now?

My friend actually auditioned for that Bruce Campbell movie, he said Bruce was a really nice guy. He's a local favorite around here, and we're all fans of Evil Dead II (who isn't though?). Speaking of which, I saw Ted Raimi in the audience of a play I was attending at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which, by the by, was ranked the second best regional theatre in the United States by Time Magazine. One of the actors in repertory at the festival is Catherine Coulson, which may only be of interest to you David Lynch fans. Other famous Oregon residents: Gus Van Sant, Chuck Palahniuk, and Brad Bird. We're also the ones that gave you Matt Groening, River Phoenix, and Prefontaine. Why don't we get any respect?

And you pronounce it "OAR-gun" not "or-GAHN."

Sorry, I was so excited about the news of a small, independent film being made in your state that I missed the rest of what you said. Something about someone related to someone moderately famous attending a play or something? Truly amazing stuff.

My Mom was born in Oregon, but I don't hold it against her.

The Goonies is a good movie too.

I like Baker Oregon, my great Grandma lived there.

I can't believe you have a state law that says you have to have someone else gas up your car.

There's a state law saying the pumps have to be full service?

Er, yeah. Something about jobs, or safety, or whatever.

But Ted Raimi isn't "related to someone moderately famous." He himself is an actor, in all three Spiderman films, and played the possessed Grandma in Evil Dead II. He's actually a cult legend of a lesser status than Bruce Campbell. Word.

Like rafting? I raft this river almost annually.

Yeah, pretty much every house in Oregon looks like this.

One of the eight wonders of the world, billions of years old Crater Lake. The bluest water you will ever see.

Err, perhaps not the most attractive thing, this is a Medford landmark. It, ahem, advertises a local tool store called "Black Bird." Right, anyway...

Don't be a baby, you can call me up and mispronounce my state's name anytime. Plus, I wasn't going to be able to afford E3 next year anyway if I go to school soon, and if I can afford it we're going to go anyways. Whiner!

I don't care if Bruce Cambell was there - I'll still throw your state off the freaking country.
