Title: Australia ps3 price

I was having a browse through the local paper this morning and i found a harvey norman games liftout. On the bottom of the front page it has in big letters
"ps3 premium console $999"
"pre-order now" etc.

I imagine that is what the standard price will be from all the retailers.
Thoughts?

just for all of the americans, according to google, thats $753.45 USD.  And I thought the PS3 price here was bad.

Great.  Know you can buy the complete Multiplayer Wii bundle (The one with the DS, Wiimotes, etc) Plus a game Plus the Wireless adapter you'll need to get online.

I will be interesting to see how much the games will be. I have seen some 360 games around (new releases) that go for $120.

By the way, a standard price for a new release in this part of the world is $100 across the board for all consoles.

It's 599€ here, which is the same 750USD.

well, since the average price for the PS2 here is USD350 and the iPod Video 60GB is around USD700, it's easy to guess how cheap the PS3 will be here

Meanwhile, a new official Xbox 360 bundle with two controllers, two games and Live headset is going for $750.

one of my friends is willing to pay that just for ff13. i nearly choked when he said that.

Buying an expensive console like that for one freakin' game? Damn, someone has some money to burn. I personally don't buy a console unless I can find a number of games I want that equal in cost to the console.

Do us all a favor and bitch-slap him if he plans on buying it at launch, considering that FF13 won't be out for at least a year after launch, maybe longer.

I told him it wont be out for a year. He doesnt care. The same guy also thinks that the wii will be nintendo's biggest flop. While it is possible (very unlikely but possible). I tell him all the third party companies are lapping it up but he will have none of it.

I have given up on him.
