Animate has announced that UFOTABLE will produce a Tales of Symphonia OVA series for Japanese release next year, based on the popular Namco RPG. The series will be directed by Haruo Tonosaki (eX-Driver) and feature character design by Akira Matsushima (Rurouni Kenshin Seisouhen).

And it will come out on Blu Ray and UMD where it will fail in the retail sector.

Is this a real, full-length series?

(You can tell I'm bitter about the ridiculousness of the King Of Fighters: Another Day "series".  It was just four 5-minute episodes!  WTF!)

Raine fan-service FTW!

It appeared in AnimeNewsNetwork that there was one in the planning stages long ago, and I thought it got canned.....

luckly it isn't ^^

in the link it says that it'll be called Tales of Symphonia The Animation, I wonder if it'll be like Tales of Eternia The Animation....

OVAs are usually just a few episodes but IIRC the Tales of Phantasia OVA had 13 eps.

Eternia was 13, Phantasia was 4. Only time will tell how long this one goes.

well the series is already on DVD, and volume 2 will be out in August in Japan.  I watched the first episode, and i quite enjoyed it.  I noticed that on Play-Asia's site they have the plain version, limited edition, and collector's edition.  Are the special editions worth it?  And more importantly how do i play these if they are in region 2 only....?

If your computer has a DVD drive you can usually shift the region settings on it to play. By default you can only do this 5 times I think (switching the region play back) but I am certain there are programs that get around this.

There's always the option to set your player to region 0 which is possible with some trickery IIRC, it's mandatory for players sold in Australia, for example.
