Title: Ack! Stuck pixel
Post by: Zach on June 13, 2006, 07:00:20 PM
I think this has been mentioned before, but I couldnt find the thread.

Anyway, my brand new DSL has a stuck pixel, it doesnt get in the way, but it bugs me that my DSL is not perfect.

Does the nintendo warrantee cover a single stuck pixel?  Also, I remember talk of some homebrew program that flashed bright colors on the screen, anyone have access to that?

Edit: just realized this is mentioned in the official DS lite thread, could I get a mod to move this please?

I seem to remember one too from an imoprter - wasn't there a way where you could send a programme through the DS that flushes out the pixel or something?

The best thing to do is try it out and check for pixels before you hand over the cash. My local EB lets me do that.

I called Nintendo for a similar question. A seller on eBay was claiming that the Enamel Navy DS lite they were selling contained a single dead pixel and were willing to sell it at a discount instead of the ridiculus $200+ these thing typically selling for. $140 shipped the buyer said.

So I called Nintendo in the mean time and asked if Nintendo of America would fix the dead pixel free of charge for warrantee, even though this was a Nintendo of Japan DS lite and I did not have an original store recipet. They've obviously been out less then a year though.

Nintendo told me, it would be no problem. They would fix the 1 single dead pixel free of charge if I wanted. But, that, blah blah blah, I should first check out where the dead pixel is and that maybe will be somewhere not that noticeable (standard lcd retorhic, I know, but I want a perfect LCD!)

I did not go though with the eBay deal though because, while Nintendo of America would guarantee me a perfect DS lite. They would not guarantee I would get back the Enamel Navy body casing. The rep would not say it out right, but it sounded more like it was just going to be a disguised cross shipment. You send me yours and we'll send you one of ours. I don't think any repair work would be done.

Well likely they would repair it, but not for you, basically they'd send you another repaired DS and then repair yours to give to someone else.

I'm pretty sure it was Smash_Brother who had that problem.  I looked, but couldn't find the thread.  Maybe when he turns up he'll be able to point you to it.

You could use a play-yan or something to run a stuck pixel video through the screen for several hours.
