Also, Ian: Miyamoto is working on this. With the DK: JB team, which he obviously hand-picked for the project, because that game rocked the sh!t.

I wasnt aware that one man could make a game all by himself at that level (at least in this day and age). If you really think that Miyamoto is just gonna throw the NEW mario game for the NEW Nintendo system to some random developer and say "Hurry up, b*tches!" You ARE nuts. And even if he did, with practically everyone saying this is shaping up to be the greatest Mario of all time, then I think we would need to give major props to that team. Seriously, Miyamoto has had his hand in many, many projects over the course of the past few years, many of them not being his original games. Since Mario is his most well known, and since Nintendo really needs a Nintendo Of Japan flagship game, I have a feeling he is probably very much involved in this project, more so than any of the others. Of course I dont KNOW this, but it sure makes sense to me.

Not sure how to react to this. Miyamoto will no doubt have a lot to do with it, but still.. The fact that EAD isn't developing a Mario platformer for the first year of a new console with a brand new control scheme is just.. weird. It also tells me that the game isn't as important to Nintendo as EAD's other projects. Obviously they (EAD) have a lot on their plate at the moment, but I would have hoped that a Mario game would command their attention. Or they could have moved it to later on in the Wii's cycle, but still work on it internally. However, they probably wanted it as close to launch as possible, so they did this.
I know that Tokyo EAD has great developers and they are more than competent. With Miyamoto's involvement the game will turn out great. But this has dampened my enthusiasm. Of course, Mario is still my most anticipated Wii title..

YES!!!
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat was way more of a Mario game than Sunshine and Mario 64, this is the best news i've ever heard.
18 Days is right, this will be the greatest game of all time. Dasmos, I thought of Jungle Beat at those star grabbing parts too.
BTW Tokyo EAD is basically like the Nintendo dream team, so obviously Miyamoto plays a big role there.
I'm also hoping they are working on a new Donkey Kong game too.

Since the reorganization, they have 4 main teams at EAD, and who knows what else in the fire for DS.
One team is making Twilight Princess/Phantom Hourglass, and another is making Wario Ware. I think the third is working on Animal Crossing. No idea what the fourth team is doing. It's hard to say with the new structure of the place. And someone's obviously working on all those DS games coming out. And someone from EAD is working on the Wii Sports games, plus those demos at E3, plus moving towards Mario Kart/Stage Debut or Mario Paint.
