Title: PlanetWii
Post by: PaLaDiN on April 29, 2006, 02:09:43 PM
I know Jonny's gone on record as saying it's not happening, but come on. Reconsider.
www.planetwii.com should really be where we're going around 3 years from now... think long-term, think of the children. It actually looks pretty cool as a site name, and it's shorter to type out as an added bonus.

PlanetWii.com has already been registered, so we couldn't name it that even if we wanted to.

Since the site covers all Nintendo's current systems, why not rename the site to something that invokes that.

www.worldofnintendo.com is just being held by a squatter site... perhaps for the right amount, it could be picked up?

I think, as Caliban does, that the name should not be exclusive to any one Nintendo console but should be a vague name for the company as a whole or a creative entity-style name. Afterall, the site doesn't only focus on just the current gen home console for Nintendo, but also the handheld sector and there is no reason to have to change the name again and again for each new generation.

I noticed that planetn.com is registered but not being used. That one expires August 7 of this year. Maybe you can manage to snag it.

PGC clearly needs to pay a consulting firm $75,000 to glue a couple random syllables together and then invent some deep meanings for the newly-created word.

theBigN.com, there is a thebign.co.uk so I don't really know if PGC could use theBigN.com.

Of course they could. As long as ign doesn't complain to ICANN about that looking like theb IGN...

oowii.com
The 'oo' symbolizes both the 'oo' sound the wii naturally elicits, and also the two watchful eyes of the reporting staff at the website. The logo also contains evocative imagery: the two o's are stacked on top of one another to show that the website looks above the competition, and everyone else, to see things that others can't. Together, the two o's also look like the symbol for infinity - to symbolize the infinite possibilities of both the Wii and the website. The 'Wii' in the logo is also surrounded by a racetrack-style line, to evoke both the classic Nintendo logo, and the fact that the website staff look at the Wii from all angles.
When all of these elements come together, we get a name and a logo that powerfully symbolize the multi-dimensional fun seriousness embodied in both the Wii and the staff of this website.

You're all laughing now, but that's just because you haven't had time to get used to it yet. Trust me, there is nothing suggestive about the logo, and in a few months, you'll feel perfectly fine browsing and telling friends/strangers about the site.
Quote I laughed so hard a grape came out my nose.
Is that even possible?

Hahaha! That's an instant classic wandering. I think planetofthewii.com would be quite nice, however.

But back to serious!
I like "Planet of the Wii" very much. Might I also put forth "The Daily Wii."

My votes for PlanetN. I like it.
I also like to say that I read the discription then look at Wandering's logo and convinced myself that it's a man with a long nose.

I know this is probably blasphemy but what about getting rid of the Planet- prefix?
*crowd gasps*
No seriously...
Plant GameCube is by far one of the most UNcreative names I have ever seen for a game site. The only name that's worse are sites like Nintendojo and Spong (seriously WTF?).
Maybe you should have a contest for a new name?

Oh, I've failed at the internets. Many times, in fact. Last forum I frequented, the mod turned my avatar into a large picture of two men kissing, and then banned my IP. Oh, and I used to have an angelfire page.
What're your failures?

I used to help run 2 nintendo fansites.. but I always ended up with the load, and N-Philes criticized me for my writting, yet anything I posted somehow managed to appear on there site mere hrs. later. in almost exact same content as originally written. (never could get their own stuff) :p
