Title: Okami
Post by: Hocotate on April 14, 2006, 05:25:29 PM
This game screams "REVOLUTION!!" Everything about this game points it to the Rev or DS, why capcom decided to go with the PS2 is beyond me. I wonder if Sony asked them to make a new game to counter Nintendo's games. Windwaker like graphics, Twilight Princess wolf, and paintbrush gameplay(that would work great for Rev/DS)....

I played the demo and I was hooked, the paintbrush controls aren't so hot using the analog stick though. Capcom should've waited, polished it up a bit, and launch with the rev. Oh well, I'll be importing it as soon as I have some extra cash....

39/40 from Famitsu...
It looks damn right unbelievable. I'll be waiting for the english version though.

I'm definitely holding out for a Rev version...If it never comes, I know for a fact that Capcom hates Ninty...

FFXII - 40/40

Have you actually played FFXII?
They also gave 40/40 to Zelda OoT, Zelda WW, and Soul Caliber. They must all suck because famitsu doesn't know what they are talking about.

I played FFXII back in the 80's, sucked.

At Famitsu, the publishers review the games. Not saying Okami isn't good, i'm buying it. I hope a GC or Rev port is announced before I do though.

Dang right.
~~~~~
Of course I haven't played it. I don't care for turn-based ANYTHING.
~~~~~
I give Wind Waker a 36.9999999/40. Why don't I see any love for Vagrant Story these days (really, it doesn't get mentioned much, anywhere)?
~~~~~
Amazing how some letters with a 40/40 next to it implied everything necessary without complete sentences.
~~~~~
I want Okami on GameCube. Like, released 2months ago. Stupid Zelda delay.

Who's saying they aren't?

While I do agree that the PS2 is an odd choice for a game like this (unless you're talking about reaching a wide audience), I will be purchasing this game the day it releases, no matter the platform.

I'm hoping that this game gets a Revolution release, so I don't have to buy a PS2 to get it.
(I'd also like to play Ico, SotC, and Gitaroo Man, but I don't have the money for all of that!)

Since when does Amaterasu have a wolf-form? What is she, an Everquest Druid now? Seems a bit like giving Jesus laserbeam eyes.
Hopefully Capcom's busily making a new Product Number 03 for the Rev.

Well, Amateresu is a goddesss, she can be whatever she wants.

Hell, goblins can turn into wolves, you'd expect a full-blown goddess to be able to do the same.
/me seconds jasonditz on PN04.

Because the game is a mess to play. I like doing 0-1 points of damage when the boss can kill me in two hits and I just spent all day trying to improve, and it's all for nought, as I put the game up and forget about it.

Jesus is omnipotent, so he could morph into a dinosaur with chainsaw hands too, but if there was a game where he did that, it'd seem pretty weird.

FAMITSU FTW

Well, the PS2 only seems like a weird choice compared to DS and Rev, neither of which existed when the team started on the game. I'm also really hoping for a Revolution port.

My genitals throb in anticipation of this game. I pray every night that this will have a Revolution port. I mean, christ. After Resident Evil 4 and Killer 7, Capcom pretty much owes Nintendo big-time anyway.
Because I want it, but don't have the cash to dish out for a PS2.

Yeah, what he ^ said, except for the genital statement. But really, I do want to see more asian folklore based games.

Hey, the PS2 price dropped $20, of course you can afford it! Seriously, Sony, bite the bullet and drop to $100 already, the system is friggin' 5 and a half years old!
Umm...yeah, I also hope for a Revolution port, it'd be vastly superior, and I also don't want to buy a PS2.

Well, it didn't sell as much as it should've. I'm not sure if this means a Wii port or sequel is more or less likely...

Remember class, Capcom believes poor sales = don't port (P.N.03). Good-great sales = port and make sure everyone knows...sometimes even before the game is out! (Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4).

It's going to be interesting to watch them find a way to blame this on Nintendo, increase support for PS3 and decrease support for Wii in one fell swoop. I mean honestly, hands up anyone who expects anything else.

Sadly I wouldn't doubt it.... I'm loosing more and more faith in Capcom...
The Gamecube has a big lack of new games coming out for it.... Okami is the type of game the majority of Gamecube owners enjoy playing. Release it on the Gamecube, and it would've sold better imo... I mean c'mon... everyone would buy it, it's not like we have anything else to buy -_-

Okami should've been moved to the Rev. It had no chance this generation. Brash, original and unique games don't do well in the final year of a console. (Sales wise.) Oddly enough, a ton of them come out then.

Whoa whoa, having played Okami? This game does not, under any circumstances, belong on a damn thing with analog stick like...period. You know what stopped Okami from getting that 40/40? That's right, being released on PS2. Would've received the same score on Cube or the Box. Hell, the sole reason I haven't pre-ordered the title, because it's still damn good, is because I'm damn near desperately hoping for an E3 Wii port announcement.
On the subject of Capcom....what the hell is with their lust for supporting a sinking ship? (PSP)

Okami is best suited for Wii, no one is arguing with you on that. I'm just saying if they're going to release it on PS2,, why not release it for Gamecube at the same time? Of course a Wii release would be better, but if it's on PS2 they might as well release it for Gamecube and pull a LoZ: TP.
