Title: Wow! Over the Hedge = Gorgeous!
Post by: Artimus on March 28, 2006, 03:46:46 PM
IGN has a whole article devoted to how pretty this game is!

It's justified! WOW!

It looks alright.  It's technically good for DS, but artistically it doesn't do much for me.

No wonder, it's developed by Vicarious Visions. They've done great things with 3D on DS before. 'Sup Tony Hawk's American Sk8land and Ultimate Spiderman. Too bad their talent is being wasted with this game, though. =(

Now we're starting to see what the DS is capable of graphically. This game looks really good for a DS game.

I still can't believe Vicarious Visions was a start up in Rochester NY, where I'm currently living.  I wish they hadn't left.  They would be a nice place to send my resume to every week.

Maybe someday I'll be able to do the same...

Vicarious Visions is the only Western 3rd party studio that actually improves the DS lineup..

I still haven't forgiven them for "Terminus".

They sang the praises of that game like it was the second coming and it was TERRIBLE.

It's based off a movie...it has to look like the movie. Look at those character models!

And it's running at a constant 30fps with full 3D on BOTH screens!

I know it is.  I wasn't much impressed by the look of the movie, ie Madagascar clone (and Madagascar hardly looked spectacular either).

I wasn't all that impressed by them. Artimus made me expect something more, I guess.

How can those character mdoels not impress you?! Plus, two fully 3D screens at the same time at 30fps?

That's an amazing technical acheivement...

Games have done the two screen 3D deal before, that's not all that new.  However the engine itself does look really good though and I hope the game works out for them.

Never full-screen full-detail though.

I still think the character mdoels are insane.

Wow, the images look really smooth. The DS can't do texture filtering or Anti-aliasing can it?

And?  It's still only 2048 polygons at a time per screen, it's not like it's all of a sudden drawing double the amount.  Remember 2 screen 3D DS games are still technically drawing to one screen at a time alternating screens between frames.   Viewtiful Joe Double Trouble is a huge example of this game basically does.
