When asked whether or not Spore would be coming to the Nintendo DS and the Sony PSP, Wright replied with a "Yes... definitely."

According to Wright, Spore is intended to release for multiple handheld systems, including the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, and several mobile-phone devices.

Another high profile game for DS is good... but I don't really like their focus on mobile phone devices, I think they're a waste of time for games.

Can those systems even handle Spore?

Spore is written with very very little code, all executed by algorithms.  I'm 100% sure the DS can handle it.

Sweet!  I've always kinda avoided PC releases because I've never been that much into upgrading constantly, and methinks that the nature of the game won't change like the Sims did when it broke onto handhelds.

Actually it's more code because it has to generate not only the game logic but the content as well.

And more stuff to run = more CPU usage. Never mind that the scenes in Spore should involve large numbers of objects (buildings, creatures, etc), none of which were built by someone who had the technical limitations of the system in mind (because they are built by the end user)

Descration of the thread bump!

Anyone else try the Spore DS demo on the Nintendo Channel? The character creation seemed interesting albeit limited for the demo.
