Title: Geez EA, what's that about
Post by: jasonditz on March 07, 2006, 08:20:28 AM
I got an email inviting me to take part in an EA survey (probably because I bought Sims 2 for the DS from them last week). So anyhow, question one is which games I own. I fill that out, then question two is what systems do you currently use: here's the options:

PC
Xbox 360
Xbox
PS2
PSP
None of the Above

What's up with that, EA... you left every single nintendo system off the survey? Then, when I select none of the above (although I own a PS2, it's the principle of the thing), the survey suddenly says "thank you for taking our survey", even though I was at 5% complete. They don't even want the opinions of Nintendo owners...

They already know the answer.
They don't want our "opinions," then want to know what the next big thing they should invest in is to sell to us.

Nintendo isn't really their target market anyway.  EA's business model relies on selling annual sequels of average games with high production values to ignorant schmucks who don't know better.  When you own a system that has Nintendo games on it you're likely going to know better.

The only EA game I own is a used copy of Madden '94 for the SNES my brother bought from a friend so that we had a game that could use all five slots on our multitap.  EA has a reason to not care about my opinion.  Fun fact: when we bought Madden the seller threw in A Link to the Past FOR FREE which introduced me to Zelda.

But in this case, I'm assuming I got this offer of a survey specifically because I just bought something from that crappy little e-Store of theirs. The timing (I get the survey offer the day after my package arrives) would hint at that at least. So I'm not just a theoretical customer from a platform that doesn't see much interest.

Obviously EA have been keeping an eye on the latest Japanese sales, DS killed GBA, now PSP has pretty much made DS irrelivant and GameCube has been dead since it launched. EA can handle the facts and present them in an unbiased manner, unlike Nintendo.

They're too busy not paying their employees, buying licenses/small developers, updating sports rosters, drinking blood, eating babies and raping women to be bothered with including Nintendo in any form on their surveys.

The Stupid thing, and true thing is, that he was sent the survey after buying a Nintendo system game.  They knew what game he bought, and for what system.  So why would they send him a survey that did not include the system the game he bought for that was not included in?

Moreover, when you try to search subcategories for DS games in their e-store, it doesn't let you... the DS button on the left hand side just replaced the GBC button, and the subcategories still reflect the only GBC game they still have listed (albeit sold out) on their site. Also, if you go to advanced search, DS is not an option, but GBC still is. So basically the only four DS titles of theirs you can easily buy are the ones they handcoded onto the front page of the DS/GBC section.

The only way I even found Sims 2 was by doing a basic search without the platform listed and just paging through till I found it. I wonder if that's the first one they ever sold...

Nintendo products aren't listed for the same reason Goldeneye: Rogue Agent was released.

They're stupid.

In EA's defense they appear to have done the same thing with the Xbox 360 on their estore...

So it's not some personal grudge against Nintendo, it's just general ineptitude.
