Title: Phantasy Star Online III
Post by: UncleBob on February 24, 2006, 10:30:54 AM
Whoo! I may finally have a use for my GameCube Modem and ASCII Keyboard.
I picked up Phantasy Star Online Episode III from EBGames.com for under $8.
It's not really my type of game, but for $8, considering I've got the Keyboard and the Modem, I couldn't pass. Now, I want to try it out online at some point, but I want to test it out a little so I can get the system down.
Anywhoo, I got my copy in the mail today - and it's in excellent condition. In fact, it still has the little sticker inside with the S/N and Access Key on it. I figure there's a pretty good chance that the previous owner of this game never went online with it. So I went to SEGA's PSO Site and it seems that in order to see if the code works, I have to actually sign up with it - and I don't want to start my free month yet.
Anywhoo, that's my story. My GCN Modem is going to actually be useful aside from failed WarpPipe attemts. Yay!

Aw man, that's totally awesome! I wish I'd actually gotten some use out of my broadband adapter. Now it almost seems pointless with DS online and Rev around the corner...

Isn't it called the Broadband Modem Adapter?
Anywhoo, I've got both anyway...

Ugh, do I hate that game. I bought it with the same intention as you (the Broadband adaptr was on sale at TRU at the time too) and even had all the information on it from my ISP. However, I spent a couple days playing the game and then realized I didn't want to be playing that game at all, let alone for a fee online.

Now that you have PSO 3, go buy PSO 1 & 2, that way you can play a better game and run homebrew GC games to boot.
Better yet, forget you have PSO 3 and go buy Baiten Katos, it's a far superior game.

Fully agree. Bought a copy of PSO3 new from Best Buy for $9.99 about a year ago... must have sunk about 30 minutes at max before I never wanted to play it again. Baiten Katos, on the other hand, was an amazing game which had me hooked up until I beat it. Can't wait for the sequel either.
