Title: PSP cheese advertisment
Post by: BlkPaladin on January 13, 2006, 04:07:44 PM
I have watched it a few times and I have to say it is a bad commercial. They don't even cover its a game system. They push it as a MP3 player of sorts. (It like cheese you can listen to outside.) It give me homocidal tendancies.

This commercial in additon to the other advertising that markets it as a movie player or an extension of your living room, it seems like they have given up on being a video game device.

I really think Sony is on a personal crusade to make UMDs(its ironic that the U standards for Universal and its a propritary format) and Blu-Rays successful unlike their first propritary movie format the Beta-Max.

I noticed that too.  Though the cheese commercial amused me to no end, it wasn't even being advertised as anything other than an mp3 player.

Well, each commercial shows a particualar feature. One for mp3, one for video and one for games. Sony just phails at showing all three.

But then there are the new-er ones just show games with the squirels and dust bunnies looking and commenting. One has the announcer saying a dull "Hellz yeah" and the other has more stereotyping.

Indeed, ths is one of the worst advertising campaigns I have ever seen.  There is just nothing good abotu any of them.  In fact, no PSP commercial has ever been really good.  The best ones were the totally unrealistic ones where people are playing them on roller coasters and while skateboarding.

All three rat/squirrel commercials are available on Google Video (just search PSP), I just saw the "Hells yeah" one and the Portable Nut one.

Somebody at Sony is on pot.

Xbox 360 advertising runs this crap into the ground.  I hate these commercials.

Everyone, however, should see the banned Xbox 360 commercial.  Pure brilliance.

I kinda liked the one where the guy turns in to all the different characters. It actually showed someone enjoying a psp. All the other ones didn't. What I got from the "Throwing" commercial was that all the people were saying "Meh, this is boring" and so they throw it away.

I'm not going to lie either, I like the commercials.  They're not talking about the games enough I guess, but I've always felt that the videogame fanboy attitude that game footage = awesome commercial is wrong.  Catching the viewer's attention is important too, and I suppose these commercials do that.

My Avatar has been animated for a while, Though I am glad other people can see it moving, because on my computer lately it has stopped, since others can see it, i guess I will keep it, I like mooning people through the internet.  I got that Avatar from this website, its a space picture every day, some make really good desktop wallpapers.  The one i have for my Avatar is the only one I have seen that is animated though.

I've got GIF animation turned off, the only good use I've seen for it were Bisqwit's bug demonstrations and for those I can just turn GIFs back on.

Well maybe they have hired NOA's advertising firm. ;P

I also have made the comment to others when I seen the throwing commericall about them not wanting. Doesn't they guy stick the thing back were ever instead of playing it. It like I can't get rid of it.

I thought it was an ad for Cheese I couldn't make heads or tales wtf they were talking about. I think most people would be confused as
to what's being advertised. Heh, PSP Watered down PS2 with strangely enough a port of a GTA game going to it's console counter part.

sad

It proves one thing: The marketing division of Sony Computer Entertainment is a bunch of mindless jerks who will be the first against the wall when the Revolution comes.

I thought those commercials were halarious.

The rats look so damn stupid, so stupid in fact, that I couldn't stop myself from laughing. There voices were funny as well. The only non-funny part was the actual dialogue.

I give it a C overall: it is one of the few commercials period that actually made me laugh, but I honestly don't understand what they are talking about.
