Did this ever amount to anything? It got pretty awesome impressions, I remember IGN saying the quality was cell phone-like.

well there is a thread on DSpeak in the DS boards but no one ever replied to it.
It was pre E3, and provides a link to the DSpeak page on IGN

its was listed in the release list of titles planned for 2006 release that NOJ provided a couple months back or so. Hopefully it does come out.

That would be retarded if it came out on it's own. It should be like PictoChat, included in a firmware update or something. Or included in online games so I can tell other bounty hunters how I did their mom last night.

If I'm not mistaken, the only changes that can be made to the firmware are extremely minor, not something like putting DSpeak into Pictochat.

I don't know that a DS has enough power to do VOIP while playing a game too

What about making PictoChat online, which is completely useless in its current state?
