Actually, when i tell My GF, who has stolen my AC, she will probably have a seizure, then so will her mom and sister and Best friend and BF's mom and sister, and her cousin and th C's entire family. Oh man, Its pokemon seizure all over again.

All that stuff sounds true- actually, IGN already reported (albeit subtly) that we're getting the next new Sonic game and it WILL be exclusive. It was done in their 2003 lineup feature (I'm not sure if it's insider exclusive or not). They also mentioned the Monolith RPG Baten Kaitos. That's interesting E3 stuff, though, especially already having a tentative title for the next Zelda. Normally I wouldn't believe it, but Miyamoto said in an interview that he wanted to have the next Zelda out next year and that they've actually been working on it a little for a while. Great find!

GCZero is real good with info. I new a ton about Pikmin 2 like 6 months ago thanks to them. They also reveled AC2 and Mario 128 like a week before anyone else. It's to bad the site is so small, I talked with one of the people there and they said they can't expand till it gets bigger.

Let me explain something to you all ...
Most of these "fly-by-night" fan sites that pop up are copying news from other sites. Specifically, these guys copied our Game Boy Player news from last week. Whenever they AREN'T copying news, they're making it up. I could tell you a dozen games Nintendo will have at E3, and just by my knowledge and educated guessing, I would probably be 80% accurate. It's not a real big leap for them to take a couple of stabs and if they get even ONE right, that's all people will remember. It's like Nostradamus ... you only remember when he's RIGHT.
In this case, he's probably right about Mario 128, Pikmin 2, maybe even Animal Crossing 2 and Mario Kart. He's DEAD WRONG about the Zelda footage ... but no one is going to remember that one.
Anyway, it gets worse when big trade shows approach. PLEASE, take everything you read with a grain of salt unless it's coming from sites you can trust. And obviously, I'm talking about US.

I could say the same thing about you guys. PlanetGamecube is just a fansite, you most likely started out just like GCZ. You just stuck it out long enough to become big. Everything starts out small and grows. I didn't believe them about Animal Crossing 2. I thought the game sold bad and they wouldn't ever touch the idea again but, they where right and I was wrong.

Wow, Rick's getting awfully jealous. It must be some ego thing that goes on in the grand hierarchy of internet video game sites. Just because someone's on a bigger site doesn't mean they have to insult a smaller site for saying something before they do.
It's like the hierarchy of gaming message boards, where the loser with 5,000 posts, who spends all his time on the boards, is the leader.

Post by: RickPowers on February 23, 2003, 07:00:18 AM
It has nothing to do with being jealous. I'm just trying to keep you guys from being set up for disappointment. Look, it's FEBRUARY. I know for a fact that even NINTENDO doesn't have a full and complete list of what will be shown at E3, and it's been known to change right up to the week of the show. Regardless, anyone saying that they know what will be show this early is quite obviously guessing, save for one title.
Quote Last year you said Mario Kart was giving you the most trouble of all the games you were working on. Have you resolved this trouble and can you tell us anything about it.
Miyamoto: First of all, Mario Kart was not in today's film, but that's not because it isn't completed, but rather we want to show it at E3. We don't have anything further to say about it. I hate to admit this, but we were so focussed on Wind Waker, we couldn't share resources with Mario Kart.
Even so, Miyamoto could pull Mario Kart at the last second if he feels it wouldn't do the game justice, as he has been known to do in the past.
And yes, I could offer you my guesses, but I'm positive that it would end up being copied all over the internet and taken completely out of context, so I'm not going to. But it's pretty obvious stuff ... I'd start with anything that was shown at E3 last year but is still not released.

That game is still my most anticipated ever, or basically just as much as Wind Waker which is an achievement given that WW footage is plentyful whereas no Too Human footage has been shown yet.
Rick when will Dyack appear on the PGC boards? YOu once said he would pop up here aswell soon.

it's not like PGC has a monopoly on Nintendo coverage. they're not going to hush up sites that get an exclusive. for all we know, Rick may have even checked with NOA sources to see if this Gamecubezero site is being honest. but we always see rumors and hype develop as E3 nears. the thing is, we always end up getting a little disappointed and hoping that "maybe next time" E3 will have all that we expected. and so the cycle continues.
Rick is just watching out for us giddy gamers, and hoping we don't get too hysterical about E3 news. don't believe everything you read, especially not on the web. in the case of Gamecubezero's news story, it would have been credible had the writer not gone overboard by assuming the next Zelda title would be unveiled.
PGC did not get to where it is now by posting a bunch of bs and advertising that "hot story" on bigger site's forums. Gamecubezero needs to find more honorable ways of gaining a readership.
btw, that Super Smash Bros. online idea has been running around since before Melee was even released.

What I would love to see is a brand new RPG from nintendo aimed at older gamers with a serious and involving plotline, maybe along the style of Shining force. With character classes like Mages, Rangers, Knights, Archers, etc. And with great graphics to boot, that would be my dream come true.

Yeah, wouldn't it be great if they brought it Stateside? *Wishing out loud* And with a pre-order deal like WW that had some of the older games converted to English. Heck, if they even just released a compilation disc to bring American gamers up to date in the series. Oh the possibilities...
Nindendo needs to do this.
P.S.: I wonder why Nintendo included Marth and Roy as playable characters in the American version? To spark some interest among gamers? Maybe

"I'd start with anything that was shown at E3 last year but is still not released."
Oh my God! Wario World is going to be shown at E3! What a scoop!
"My list? Star Fox Armada, Wind Waker, Kirby, maybe Pikmin 2, and probably others"
Wind Waker is being released next month. E3 is in May. I REALLY doubt Nintendo would show off a game they've already released in North America at E3.
"I wonder why Nintendo included Marth and Roy as playable characters in the American version? To spark some interest among gamers?"
It's probably because it would have been a pain in the ass to remove them and the localization job would have taken longer as a result. I assume that if Nintendo of America had any plans in late 2001 (when SSBM was released) to release Fire Emblem in North America they would have released the GBA Fire Emblem game.

Quote "I'd start with anything that was shown at E3 last year but is still not released."

Well, that's my point. It doesn't take a frickin' genius to make a couple of "bold predictions" as to what will be shown at E3, because I could pull names right out of my ass, and have at least 80% accuracy. It's like shooting fish.
My point is that we're quickly approaching the time of year when you all need to have your bullshit detectors cranked all the way to the right. A lot of people are going to try to put some crap over on you, and it's your job to be skeptical and not get carried away. There are a great many people out there that start these rumors and LIES, just to see how fast they get around the Internet. About Sonic Adventure 3... from what I've heard, it's confirmed, but no details. I don't get where they're getting the "Exclusive:Yes" crap from. I'd say it's pretty likely to be shown at E3 though, if only because Service Games needs any boost it can get.

Do you even know much about Too Human or SK's supposed other project, Rick? SK's been really tight lipped about all their games, especially Too Human. I REALLY hope they fully unveil it at E3.
"I don't get where they're getting the "Exclusive:Yes" crap from."
Well, IGN, like Rick here, knows a LOT of stuff we don't- they just don't tell us. IGN's usually not one to claim outright that the next Sonic will be exclusive if they didn't have reason enough to believe it.
Anyway, I'm glad this thread has turned into "Let's bash GamecubeZero!". Seriously people, you're just as pathetic as you claim that site is if all you do is sit here and point out all their faults. Rick had a point when he said to turn up your BS meters, but don't take that too far. GamecubeZero could have legitimate info, you never know! It seems like a lot of you hold PGC to be perfect with no faults whatsoever- I bet even Rick would tell you they've made some mistakes in the past, as does EVERY site. It's minimizing these mistakes that gets you to be credible.

The chance of Nintendo showing Metroid 2 is so slim that it is not even funny. This game was just confirmed to be in development, all they could show is some form of a new level with the old engine, which would not impress anyone, this game would have a bad hype from the start. Also, it is very likely that Nintendo will show Wind Waker, last E3 they displayed quite a few games that were already launched. And, yeah, the comment about the "new Zelda" (notice the quotes) being shown at E3 is nearly nothing, why would Nintendo chance losing thousands of possible gamers from Wind Waker who are hoping this new Zelda comes soon.

It's still way to early to be getting ourselves hyped up for things that might never happen. Realistically, I don't think Nintendo's showing is gonna blow anyone away at this years E3. Could Too Human do it? Yes, will it be shown? probably not. So, let's cut the E3 rumors for a couple of months, anything could happen between now and then. Rick's right about making E3 predictions, and about Nintendo not having all of it's own plans figured out for what it has in store for this years E3.
Title: More E3 News Here!!!!!!

"Also, it is very likely that Nintendo will show Wind Waker, last E3 they displayed quite a few games that were already launched."
They did? I know they showed some released games in a video but I don't recall them having any playable. Anyone who actually went to E3 last year able to confirm whether or not Nintendo had playable versions of already released games?
"And, yeah, the comment about the 'new Zelda' (notice the quotes) being shown at E3 is nearly nothing, why would Nintendo chance losing thousands of possible gamers from Wind Waker who are hoping this new Zelda comes soon."
Why would showing off a new Zelda lose "thousands" of sales? Zelda games aren't like Madden where the next game makes the old one obsolete. The average Zelda fan will buy BOTH games as both games are completely different. Now if Nintendo showed off Wind Waker: Director's Cut then I can see it affecting sales. Besides by the time E3 comes around Wind Waker will have been out for nearly two months and by then all the really hardcore fans will have bought it already. Anyone who really cares about the new look enough to sit on the fence in regards to purchasing likely will never buy the game anyway.
Think about it this way. If Square showed off two Final Fantasy games for PS2 at the same time (let's say XII and XIII) that are to be released months apart do you think anybody would not buy XII because XIII is being released so soon after? Not likely because both games are different and most fans will be interested in both.

Well it's been confirmed that Capcom has been working on a brand new Zelda for the GBA since 2001. Yes, it is a different game from the Four Swords. Read about it by clicking here. Maybe there is some truth to the The Legend of Zelda: The Legend Forgotten after all. Note how Miyamoto is quoted as saying, "Miyamoto continued with stating that this game will most likely be revealed at the E3 convention in Los Angeles, May 2003."

True, but that doesn't automatically mean it's FALSE, either. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Until someone PROVES that GamecubeZero is BSing, what gives them the right to assume so? I'm not saying we should believe them (I'll admit a lot of their stuff sounds iffy), but without evidence either way, we shouldn't make a decision either way.

Well that website never actually said anything about it being a Wind Waker sequel (in the sense of it being a new GC game). They just said a Zelda game called The Legend of Zelda: The Legend Forgotten would be shown in video at E3. Now a new GBA Zelda game has been confirmed. Even IGN has an article about it saying it's confirmed. You can read it here. In the interview Miyamoto said that the new GBA game would most likely be shown at this years E3.

Hey Rick, im with you all the way, i DESPISE sites that make up rumours like that and claim them as fact, all they do is scour message boards for rumours and then post them on thier site as NEWS! Grrrr! BTW, PlanetGamecube is a highly respected site by Nintendo. At Nintendo.com they asked what sites you goto for news, and one of the choices was Planet Gamecube. PGC is the best site you will ever find for Nintendo NEWS!
Anyway, i hope Too Human is shown.

There was an interview with Silicon Knights at least 2 years ago, I think on nintendorks, where the main guy basically said (in a secret, roundabout way) "Too Human will be on the GameCube." Of course that was 2 (3?) years ago, but I don't see why it WOULDN'T be shown. Unless they canned it altogether, but the fact that they've said ED ran on a modification of the Too Human engine makes me think they haven't forgotten about it, or put all that time into it (for the PS2) only to scrap it.
The really great thing is that Nintendo's booth could be 15 F-Zero displays, 15 Pikmin 2 displays, and 15 Mario Golf displays, and I'd be perfectly happy...the great thing is that there's a100% chance their E3 showing will be 10 times cooler than what would make me perfectly happy.

Too Human is not CANNED, its still under development. The only thing thats still unsure is when it will be shown and released. And just to clear up, Eternal Darkness didnt use a modified engine but a subset, but a subset of the Too Human engine, a chunk of the engine. It basically means the same, but I just want to reinforce what an amazing engine and ultimately what amazing graphics Too Human ought to have.

OK, Ian Sane, let's pretend that Nintendo were to show the sequel to Zelda GCN, and say that it had "SpaceWorld Zelda" graphical style. Remember the negative hype when Wind Waker was first shown, well pretty much anyone who had originally said that (even if they changed their mind by now) would go back to what they said and not buy Wind Waker if they were planning on it. They would tell themselves, "ok, well, i can spend 50 on WW now or i can wait till this game, which i would much rather come o r showing now is at least in development." Assuming, they are not a dire-hard Zelda fan (obviously, or they wouldve already bought it), they will wait. I promise you that. Also, games that have already been released are often displayed at shows in general to drum up more support for the game. Believe it or not, that increases the sales for the game.

all i can say is "you never know," although, most of this does sound like bs and i am going to assume that it is. but, its a 99.9% chance that mario kart will be shown. finally, ive been wanting to see this game for the longest time.

Mario: That;s called blind faith, and when left unchecked it often leads to fanboyism. Watch out.
Rick: Ok, I'm not doubting you. I just don't think people should be quick to jump to conclusions just because their beloved PGC didn't say so.
But I agree with kenny- showing a new Zelda *right* after WW's release, especially with an SW2K graphcial style, would only make those borderline buyers hold off on WW and wait for the next one. It's bad business.

Im sure it wont dissapoit because A: Its being developed for ever B: Silicon Knights are really talented which they prove with Eternal Darkness (and Too Human must be much better than ED because its a way bigger project) C: This game definetely has an important meaning, ie is probably seen as a great contribution to Nintendos sucess with the GCN so everyones watching it turns out great. It might be seen as what Metroid was in 2002 for the GCN in 2004 (and I mean by Nintendo).

it is very likely that this new zelda game is in fact the GBA one being developed by capcom...i do find it hard to believe that they would show the new one so soon, as it is against Ninty's policy

Basically, a Japanese mag said that Nintendo was making a quote "Megaton" announcement. Speculation on the net got way out of hand, including buyouts of Sega, Capcom, Namco, etc etc, insane game announcements, stuff like that. Turns out that Nintendo announced a game with characters from the magazine's comic strip.
So basically, everyone is now hesitant to get too excited over rumors, for fear of another Megaton disappointment.

Nintendo better make sure this E3 is completely huge...they could blow away Sony and XBox this year even more than last year. Just think of all the games they can show: Zelda: Wind Waker Mario 128 Pikmin 2(hopefully online) Animal Crossing 2(same thing) F-Zero GC(maybe reveal online...I doubt it though) Mario Kart GC(online..) Too Human(please... FF:CC Kirby's Air Ride 1080 Snowboarding Wario World Pokemon(anything... New Sonic Game(hopefully exculsive) MGS(whatever it is...if the rumor is true)
That's not even everything...anything else anyone can think of?

what about giftpia. i have a feeling that will start gettin some publicity. i think the game looks stupid, but thats only from the first screens so we'll see. i can't wait for more f-zero footage, and tube slider as well. they could have a section thats just racing. f-zero, tube slider, and mario kart. that would be pretty cool

we all gotta remeber that name from last E3 that slipped out, Marionette. That could be anything, if that anything has to do with puppets as is said on some website i can't remember.
