Title: What do you think Nintendo's big holiday game will be?

Do you think it will be as big as Zelda or Metroid? They need something to compete with Halo 2.

Even if it is better than Halo 2, rest assured that it won't sell as much. Just look at Metroid Prime, I'm smelling another disappointing holiday season for Nintendo.

I would have to say ANimal Crossing 2 and the next Mario. I dont think Metroid Prime 2 will come out till the next system launches.

I don't think Nintendo really has a big holiday game, which is a bit of a worry, but hopefully nothing serious, because there may be several not so big games released at the time...Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, 1080, Pikmin 2...they could all be released around Christmas. Starfox Armada could be the big holiday game, if it's ready by that time, but that's questionable. Nintendo may also rely somewhat on Capcom's exclusive titles for the Christmas season.

Mario Kart will be the best selling game in 2003.
Here is why:
GameCube = multiplayer. Games like Smash Bros and Mario Party are having a huge success on GameCube. Mario Kart is probable as big if not bigger than the Mario series and Zelda series. Mario Kart appeals to the casual gamer.

Mingesium's right- historically, Mario Kart has sold better than both Mario AND Zelda. If there's any Japanese players holding off to buy a Gamecube, it's for Mario Kart. I hope they don't release the game in the summer, when game sales are usually slower. They need more than one big holiday games, too- it'll look GREAT on advertisements. I hope Mario Kart comes out late fall and reportedly Miyamoto wants Mario 128 out by the holiday season, too.

I think Nintendo will go all out with Mario this holiday season. Mario 128 could be the best game ever if its a true sequal to Mario 64, and Mario Kart speaks for itself. But i really think Gamecubes next holiday game will be Pokemon. Or something totally new, you know how good Nintendo are at keeping secrets, Mario Kart is supposedly finished and we havent even seen one god damn screenshot.

Actually it has already been confirmed that Retro is working on Metroid Prime 2 so it will be for the GameCube.

Nintendo has a lot of GCN games coming out. There’s Pikmin 2, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario 128, Star Fox Armada, The Capcom 5, Kirby’s Air Ride, etc. I think Nintendo do what they did in the 2002 holiday season: They’ll will release these games throughout the later half of the year and then gamers can pick what games they want. That way, Nintendo will make money on holiday games while the gamer can choose from a big selection.

Gosh! You guys sure love to dream. There's another of those damn GTA games coming to Ps2 this year, how can Mario Kart compete with that?

Call me crazy but i think that Mario Kart GCN could easily outsell the next GTA game. We'll see.

i think that the vast majority of gamers are all about the wanton violence and destruction of Grand Theft Auto.. nothing can save the game market anymore

Eventually blowing people up has to get boring. Some smart people may realize that Gamecube has more diversity (well, between Sega, Capcom, and Nintendo, at least. Most of the third party games are pretty typical) than the other two systems, despite the fact that PS2 has many more games. They're just all the same. That's GOT to get boring.
GTA is fun, though.

If pokemon GC doesnt require saphire/ruby then i can see pokemon outselling halo.i think if the n64 had a real pokemon rpg pokemon would be a lot more popular right now oh well

Despite that time seems to move faster as you get older, you'll also forget that entirely too many things happened in a year. Maybe the next big thing has yet to be announced. Remember how Diddy Kong Racing just came out of nowhere to be Nintendo's showcase title that Xmas?

I think HALO 2 will definitely be the big seller this Christmas. The trailer ( done real time on the Xbox ) was spectacular. Heck HALO 1 is STILL outselling every title on the Gamecube this last week.
